Some posts above, someone wondered why people bought vinyl/tt's.
Well, I for one, have a WHOLE LOT of lp's, and without a tt, they are useless. And most of them were never released as CD's. Also, thrift stores have a lot of lp's for 50¢-$1.00 for some really good albums that whoever donated them, took really good care of 'em. Some real scores there.
I use a Panasonic dd tt I bought at a church rummage sale for $7.00, like 10 years ago.It works perfectly. I have 2 other belt drive tt's I have not used since I got the dd. I mostly use the table for ripping music to the computer, but some cd's I have do not sound as good as my vinyls, go figure.
As far as what a $2,500 dd tt would do for me is lighten my wallet, , , , ,

I had about 130 LP's, leftover from my teens into the first 15 years of our marriage. The kids had abused the lowly Dual CS503.1 TT I had, it was disposed of around 2005.

I got the bug to replace it in 2017, and got an entry level Pro-Ject RPM-1. It was just earlier this year that I felt the urge to upgrade and get something nicer with an integral dust cover. Along with that, I wanted to try a moving coil cartridge. Yeah, I spent bucks. It was absolutely worth it to ME.

Now I'm up to just under 200 LP's and loving the whole experience. It slows me down, it's an engaging process that rewards with great sound while I can really decompress.

I am re-purchasing many of the records I used to own. I have 10 of them coming via ebay next week. All vinyl are VG+ to M according to the descriptions. I will NOT settle for VG. Has to be VG+ or better! I know how to shop on ebay having over 1000 feedback profile myself. I paid off my new (built in 2018) mobile home mansion just this month, so I can afford to buy a few records here and there. It is a bit of a crapshoot, but with a little discernment and knowledge on how to buy them site-unseen, you can minimize the duds.

I stopped at an "indoor flea market" kind of place today and found some albums. I walked out with 21 hand-picked LP's in VG+ or better (some mint) media condition, some in a little less than VG condition for the jackets. Plus two music DVD's, all for just under $105.

I'd say 5 to $15 usually. Although I did buy one today for $2.99 plus $4 shipping. I almost paid around 18 plus shipping for a still sealed LP by a Christian rock artist that I like named Paul Clark. But I found another listing that included that one plus five other LP's of his that are all VG+ to M for under $50 and like 6 or 7 shipping. My LP interests are certain Christian rock artists, Beatles, although I have both mono and stereo remastered 180 gram box sets already and classic rock. Maybe some British invasion stuff too. I have some Kinks and Stones, I will add more eventually. I have some great Badfinger, but that was of course after the British Invasion.

Well...already have most of that, at least the ones I want, already :) That Joe Bonamassa dvd sounds interesting, tho....mebbe Phil's, too. I'd have to add $50 or so in gas alone to find a place like that, maybe more. Then again I'd be more interested in optical discs than vinyl and I can do that on my keyboard easily enough :)

Also curious what @Squishman got and for how much for comparison....

I'm up to just a few under 200 now. The rack my son made for me should hold about another 150. and filling it is no priority of mine. I keep meaning to getting around to compiling a list so I don't duplicate any, and truthfully there's a few from the late '70's and early 80's that my wife bought and I have no intention of playing for my own ears. ;)

LOL the list maintenance thing to prevent duplicates is a good idea....done that to myself a coupla times over the years and I think I'm behind now on latest discs being added now that I think about it. Plus I did a database no-no on my movie collection I need to fix. I think my vinyl LP count is something like 800, mebbe 150 45s (7")? Optical discs 2000? Think it's been a year since I duplicated by accident :)

Most recent ebay purchases going back over a year (not including shipping) were
Steely Dan - Katy Lied $16,
Steely Dan - The Royal Scam $15,
Leslie (Sam) Phillips - The Turning original pressing $16,
Paul Clark 6 albums from early to late 70's for $45,
Paul Clark - Change in the Wind $7.50
Brand new 180 gram Bowie - Ziggy Stardust $23.
Richie Furay - I've Got a Reason $1.99
Johnny Cash - A Believer Sings the Truth (double album) $9
Matthew Ward - Armed and Dangerous (still sealed) $10.
Matthew Ward - Fade to White $5.
Sam Phillips - The Indescribable Wow - $8,
Rickie Lee Jones - Pirates $1.75
Doobie Brothers - What Were Once Vices are now Habits $2.70
Elton John - Honky Chateau $5
Wild Blue Yonder (st) $4
Doobie Brothers - Minute by Minute $5
Badfinger - So Fine. Two record set of outtakes and demos from the Warner Brothers albums on red vinyl (only 900 were released) new, sealed for $42
Beatles - Decca Tapes (LP) $11.50
With these purchases, all were as described and like I said, I never settle for anything less than VG+. It is not always going to be 100%, but I have had tremendous success weeding out folks who do not know how to describe a record. The vinyl is obviously the most important thing, but I also do not want a jacket that looks terrible. So I would generally pass on a VG+ record in a G jacket. Good means good, but to me it does not :)
I have also purchased several new on Amazon. It's great because most newly pressed albums are on 180 gram vinyl. One that I bought was Ringo's self titled only because I needed the jacket! I had a mint original release but no jacket and I do not remember why! But as it turned out, one song has a different version, so as a Beatle collector, it was a nice find/purchase. I have always loved that album. I went to a garage sale last year on my motorcycle and brought home 10 or 12 LP's including Deep Purple, The Guess Who, The Animals, Rickie Lee Jones (st), Foghat (ha!), Doobie Brothers.

I've got one album on cd for The Cure (Mixed Up)....just never was a big fan. They did do an awesome rendition of Hendrix' Purple Haze on Stone Free (a Hendrix tribute album).
