SVS's Auto EQ system has finally arrived. This free software system is a part of SVS's subwoofer app and claims to automatically equalize SVS-compatible subwoofers to fix room-induced problems, even when using smartphone microphones, but how well does it work really? In this article, we investigate its efficacy with in-room measurements, using both a standard smartphone as well as SVS's calibration microphone. Read our investigation into the SVS Auto EQ.

Soo, SVS Calibration, AVR Calibration, or Both? What's the best way to go?

I might just stick with AVR calibration. That will equalize bass past the subwoofer range. Room modes can be problems well above subwoofer frequencies. You don;t want to over-equalize any part of you system as well- that risks tryign to shore up nulls which can really eat up dynamic range for no result. It might be OK to use them both so long as they don't try to shore up nulls.

Great points. Thanks, James. I appreciate your response, and all your hard work!

I saw it show up in the app after a bunch of updates. I am gonna try it with the phone, but I went ahead and ordered the mic. Since I am 2ch only right now, I have not run calibration on the system.
