I have older 602 & 603 speakers, had them 10” from the wall sounded horrible for years when playing music. I moved them against the wall and they sound great!

Hi. what is the distance between the wall and the back of your speaker and are they toed in. Thanks

Cables are often largely based on marketing and placebos (rather than science) as your belief in the change from Supra Classic 2.5 to QED Strand 79 indicates. There would be no audible differences between such products, just your expectation bias kicking in. If anything the Supra Classic is 13 AWG vs the other's 14 AWG so might be suitable for a slightly longer run. Try this website from a former director of McIntosh http://roger-russell.com/wire/wire.htm. Speaker position or your seating position can significantly affect the sound you perceive, tho (as can expectation bias). Please don't waste your time/money on silly cabling.
Thank you sir. I am playing with the speaker placement and maybe the Bass was better due to that .

I agree with what lovinthehd said.
Moving your speakers back closer to the wall behind them can easily enhance the bass without changing the speaker cables.
Hi OK let me play around with the placement of the speakers. Thank you.

Not toed in. Distance between speakers 7’6”, distance to preferred listening position 9’6”, dead center. Speakers are an inch off the wall. I play the two channel setup in pure audio mode, clean nuanced sound.
I have been unhappy with these speakers for music since I got them, sounds incredible!
The speakers are one inch from the wall, they were previously about 10 inches off the wall. I read an article somewhere in this forum recommending moving them closer. Article was too technical for me.

Thank you Old Onkyo ( Actually before my current Yamaha - I also had 2 Onkyo sets). I will try these too.

Dear All - Just to close this thread- I have finally moved my speakers a little near the back and played around with the settings and the output is much much better. I am aware that I cannot truly replicate the demo room but what the hell, no one is perfect :) and now I have a purpose - to optimise the sound.Damn i didnt even know about SBIR and the crossovers and the relevance to bass :). It has been a great learning from all your experts and really appreciate how much effort is taken to help us newbies.
Btw - I have come to know a friend who specialises in setting up Listening rooms at AV exhibitions and he is in town for the AV Exhibition in Mumbai. I am trying to get him to come home and advise. Will keep you posted.
