Receiver to Power B&W 603

I was planning on getting a set of B&W 603 for my basement around 500 square feet and was wondering if the Yamaha AVENTAGE RX-A780 rated at 95WPC would be a good match? The speakers itself can handle 200watts so should I consider bi-amping with an external amplifier? I'm new to the area so any recommendation would be greatly appreciated!

Well, before you go buy another amp, as it seems you think bi-amping doubles the power or something, see this article https://www.audioholics.com/frequent-questions/the-difference-between-biamping-vs-biwiring

What the speakers can handle before melting down isn't really all that important, but checking out their sensitivity and impedance load is more important. Try this https://www.stereophile.com/content/bw-dm603-s3-loudspeaker-measurements. Yamahas tend to handle 4 ohm loads well enough but depends to what levels you want to drive the speakers at. You can use an spl calculator to help estimate amp needs http://myhometheater.homestead.com/splcalculator.html

The Yamaha has pre-outs (for L/R and subs only, though) so you could move on to a more powerful external amp later if needed. I'd try it without an external amp and see first if it meets your needs.
