I bought this, album number 7 out of the George Mitchell series. There is some serious good blues from these relatively obscure Blues artists.

After sending my Marantz Blu-ray to the shop 4x and having it finally crap out again, I am done. I may love my Pre-Pro, but I am staying away from anything else Marantz OL

Went with Oppo 103 and so far very happy. Was going to use my PS4 as my go 2 blu ray player, but their is a noticeable difference in picture quality.

What kind of problem you had with your player? I have had mine for 2.5 years and haven't had any issues with mine.

This is exactly what has happened to my unit 4 times. I finally gave up now that it is out of warranty
Ohh.. That is quite bad issue indeed.. Hopefully mine won't get issue like that as I really like my player and the fact that I can use same remote for my player and avr. That sounds like the reader unit has some balance issue or that the laser is not working properly and it has to speed up to crazy levels.

I bought this after my receiver started thermal shutdown last week.

I must say this, highly recommend because,
1) now all chassis parts are cool to touch
2) I can't hear it at all even in the dead of night sitting right next to me.
3) More convenience than most other plug and play fans.

I also got ear protection for my son since Grandma loves giving him lawn mower rides.

I order this from amazon.uk as its much cheaper than what can be found on the NA continent ..

According to WIKI, Robert Lockwood was the only one who learned directly from Robert Johnson..hence my interest for this artist.

Bought a Pro-Ject Phono Box USB pre-amp from Crutchfield, now on to digitizing some old vinyl LP's. Tried to upload a picture of it but got an error message that the file is too big for the server.

While anything should be better than nothing, I'm surprised there isn't a single mention of the noise reduction level. I had bought a box of 500 pr of Howard Leight in-ear plugs years ago for use in motorcycling (still have more than half) and when I chose I looked at the various Noise Reduction Ratings. The ones I have are a -33dB.

Here at home we use a rotary blade push mower and the only motor driven power tool I have is an Ariens Platinum 30 snowblower with a big 414cc motor. I don't have over ear protection muffs while running that, but a wool hat and thick hood works pretty darn good.

I'm a big Cure fan, but mostly the older stuff. I do have most of the albums and like even their last album Bloodflowers a lot. I've never been able to catch them live and my daughter really wanted to go. There's a fairly sizable group of us going, at least 10 people. SOLD OUT too.

The other band is interesting too - I've never heard of them but checked them out on youtube and they're Scottish with an interesting sound (and a thick accent lol, need a pint for this one). They're not entirely to my liking, but I could get used to them.

This is a 10" disc, and almost forgetting that I nearly ruined the stylus the first time I played it on an automatic turntable. Lucky I was fast enough to prevent the stylus from dropping down on the platter! Good thing my 'table has a cueing lever.

Is this attached to a cabinet or enclosure or directly to the receiver? How about a picture, I'd like to see how you used it.
What about noise? What speed level do you use?

(Guess whose got insomnia again. ;))

We're setting up a place in Texas so we're back and forth between here and Jersey. Last Summer, we loaded up a car with a few basics: some sheets, lamps, some cooking utensils some folding chairs, a Marantz 2270 and a pair of DCM CX-21 speakers. You know, the bare necessities of life. We ordered furniture to be delivered when we came out again around Christmas. All was good. Sparse but good.

Oh, while were here I sprung for a $230 32" Vizio smart TV as well. Gotta have my netflix, amazon and pandora We left one of our cars with my son to watch.

We flew out again just before Christmas, this time with a $45 Sony Blu-ray I got from Walmart on black Friday.

Well, doncha know, my trusty 2270 dropped one channel and finding service here isn't all that easy. The nearest reputable) place seems to be about 2 1/2 hours away. So, I ordered a Spartan Yamaha stereo receiver* to keep the music alive. This cost less than the repair to the 2270 will cost. We stayed until mid March.

Those bookshelf DCM CX-21 are pretty durn good, they image great and do a fairly credible job with the bass, what with them being a TLS design. But, now that we're playing movies I wanted a bit more bass.

So, I saw this on sale for $119.

It's quite good for the price but it does take some time to balance the three major factors here: Position, Crossover, and level. If you don't it can sound overpowering and boomy. It took me a few weeks of constant fiddling (hey, I'm a perfectionist here) until it sounds right to me but now that it's done, it does a great job, particularly when you consider the price.

For a 12" unit, it's fairly compact and, once adjusted properly, it simply takes over where the DCM's fade out. You don't even know it's there until it's called for.

now, this is a pretty rudimentary system. The receiver offers no bass management. I had to do everything vis placement and the controls on the sub itself. Some say it can't be done and sound right but I'm here to say that with patience you can get excellent results.

Actually, I seem to have built a bottom feeder two channel system here.

Vizio 32" smart TV - $230
Yamaha R S-201 - $130
Dayton Sub 1200 - $120
Sony 1500 Blu Ray - $45

Just add speakers and you're all set. Heck,if one is desperate, one could get a pair of Dayton B652 or$35 now

That's a total of $510. $295 without the TV.

FWIW, we just splurged for a 55" Vizio and now it's just like being in the theatre. The picture now matches the sound.

* R S-201 - I did a post on this earlier.

Since you bought a new TV, you obviously left your old one behind. Why didn't you let your son watch that?

He's got one bigger one than mine (Yeah I know that sounds weird) and also a TV in every other room. My bigun in jersey (46" Toshiba) will be going in our bedroom and our other (old) 32" Toshiba will be going in the guest bedroom. The new 32" Visio is slated for my tiny "mancave" or, more like it, a "man cubbyhole"

Besides, that TV is in Joisey. he's here with us (and his wife and three grandkids) here in Texas. That's why we're moving here. ;)

BTW, once I'm no longer married to my doctors in Jersey and set up a new cadre here, we intend to sell the Jersey place and move the rest of our stuff out here.

A serious answer to a sarcastic question.
You said, "We left one of our cars with our son to watch". I pictured the family crowded into the back seat, watching a movie on a little screen in the back of a headrest. :D
