Espreseo.TV reports that russia now invades Georgia again, russian air forces are crossing the Georgia borders

According to Espeso.TV putin now talks to Obama that East Ukraine needs help, before he talked about Krimea, I am afraid this shows an escalation of the conflict from russia's side

The link to Espreseo TV isn't working right now but that is a ramp up in escalation on Putin's part if true. Here's an interesting story from Reuters today, via Yahoo, on the relationship between Putin & Merkel.

Aww, quit yer bellyachin'! They're just investing the money in a place where it's less likely to go to waste...:D
No...they just invested the money. Remember, this thread is about history, dude. I was going to give Rick grief, but then I saw the article was from two days ago...so, history.

 :p

There were a couple of people that warned of this, back in 2008 and again in 2012.
They were mocked by the press.
A broken clock is right twice a day. :D Seriously a war is a very distinct possibility and even if it's just economic it would be terrible for everyone. It looks like Russia is calling the bluff on Crimea. This situation is getting more tense it seems.

It kinda hits close to home.
We know many people that live just 20 minutes east of us that paid for Federal flood insurance and are still waiting. Paying their mortgage on a house they can't live in.
It doesn't stay in the news like Hurricane Katrina did.

I agree about the broken clock. No one had a Magic 8 ball.:D
It's just troubling how unprofessionally the press/media handled it.
None of them are neutral or unbiased.

Hopefully this is my last comment on the subject of the impartiality or lack thereof the press. All of them have a bone to pick, left, right ... it doesn't matter and I try not to get pissed about it because it's all shite, as the Brit's say. I doubt whether the people at Faux News or MSN-BS are worried about what little 'ol me thinks. It's all about the ratings & grandstanding.

A pox on both their houses!!!

I don't want to further derail this thread.:D

Here are a few video clips, solely to point out how unprofessional the News is.

The media should be practicing investigative journalism, not picking sides.

I still don't think the events in Ukraine make Romney a prescient sage. Calling Russia the “number one geopolitical foe” of America is - to me - still a bit over the top. Their actions in the Crimea - while unacceptable - weren't meant to be, nor are they as a consequence, a challenge to US power and influence. It's only a challenge if we decide to make it one. My impression, at the moment, is that it was mainly for domestic purposes - to bolster Putin's flagging popularity and try to circumvent closer ties between Ukraine and the west. If the US and her allies completely ignored what is going on in the region, there would be no real negative consequences - unless you are Ukrainian, of course. Russia isn't trying to expand her influence, she is trying to maintain the influence she has. And, if she needs to steal neighbouring territory to do it, well...so be it. Any action on the part of the US and her allies to counter Russia's actions are purely - as I see it - moral in nature. We aren't losing any territory or markets to Russia.

I would suggest that the number one foe of America and the west would be China, with assorted middle-eastern loonies and North Korea following closely behind.

Here's another take on events:

The Ukraine crisis through the whimsy of international law - World - CBC News

We can kick up a stink about what Russia is doing, but we, i.e. NATO, aren't exactly innocent in such matters.

Just to point out a different perspective: I think it does matter, or they wouldn't be doing it.
It matters because they're Manufacturing Consent, instead of fairly reporting the news.
I changed my mind after I read this book by Edward Bernays some years ago - Propaganda Quotes by Edward L. Bernays

Oh, I didn't miss what you wrote. If you were pointing out that commentators are trying to vindicate Romney without justification, then I understand your point. Did I miss something else?

Vindicate?
No, every commentator mocked him.
Picking sides isn't journalism.
EDIT: I'm always draw to these discussions when I should be working :D
