Yes, I've just got to that stage too.
I used the Web Setup. On the Scenes tab, you can disable "recall" on everything except Input, Registered Content, Mode and Sound (so it doesn't dim the screen or change the video mode etc when you switch Scenes). Then set just these 3 things for each Scene (e.g. for Tidal I use Straight with Enhancer off).
What happens if you disable all the recall on the scenes?

Finished Arcane... for the second time. It has been a long time since something hasn't got so much impact on me.
The kind of show where you rewind scenes, increase volume, cry, repeat...
I have actually reached very high volume, no more snow on the roof !!!!

Hey guys I need your help. I am wondering if my tower speakers should be on the far outside of my room like in the picture and the subs inside.

Or should the subs be in the corners and towers between the subs and tv. It won't be as wide but then I don't have to angle the towers toward the main listening position as much.

I am running 7.2.4. My rears behind the couch are on stands and not in the picture. Atmos speakers are placed well between the couch.

I have seen both setups done not sure which is better.

Running the Yamaha a8a which is awesome.

Playing around with surround decode and surround AI. Sound very similar to me for movies from Disney plus and 4k blu rays.

Thanks guys!

You young guys are fortunate, back in the 80,s 90,s all we had was Atari before that pinball machines. Now it's all virtual, I just read a article where this young woman was playing online virtual game. She put up this bubble shield around her character so no one could get to her cause she was getting groped. Imagine that.
I'd still rather play pinball!

The tv is an LG C1 77 inch. The back wall is 12 ft wide. The seating area is 12 ft from the tv. Towers are 11 ft apart

I would say whichever sounds better to you. Although, the way you have it set up is probably the preferred way, and how I would set it up.

No one here is going to able to tell you which is better. The only real way is going to be some form of Calibration measurement. Look into Room Eq Wizard and a mic like the Umik-1.

Just at a quick glance I’d say how you have it is good. I doubt switching the subs to the corners would change a hell of a lot, and the wider speaker placement should help widen the soundstage(word bugs me lol). Might want some absorption at the first reflection points since they’d be very close to the wall. Also, the right side of the sectional would drive me bonkers. Looks like. Is in the way of the FR speaker. Lol
Also. Run ypao again too.

Thanks guys! I like the idea of wider soundstage. I know the sectional is kinda in the way of the right tower but the sound is fine.

I will run ypao again after Xmas. My boys are getting the new Xbox series x for Xmas so when that is connected and nothing will be moving I will redo ypao.

All my speakers were new so they have been running a couple hours a day since I got the A8A. They should be broken in by now

Agree with everyone else. Looks good and this is how I have mine set up, too.

Some random tips:

-use an SPL meter to calibrate speaker levels.
-using a single female to dual male Y RCA cable on the subwoofer end of your sub connections if they have L/R inputs will give your subs more voltage which is kind of a weak point on Yamaha AVRs.
-I also think the sectional on the right is a problem lol
-you might want to avoid Surround AI with all those speakers. It's really personal taste but with a full system like 7.2.4 you won't be getting the virtual speaker benefit and Surround AI will really just be widening the soundstage a little bit and adding a LOT of reverb for no reason.
-big ass rugs are always nice on hardwood floors (helps with sound reflection)
-any time you make a change like the above, re-run YPAO, and at the moment don't measure from more than 3 points due to a bug.

My first system was an atari. My parents got it before I was born. They've been games as long as I've been alive. Not quite 40 years.
One thing about all the games out now, we've been getting some really good Syfy movies and tv series made into movies from game's.

I would put the subs in the corner and speakers between the subs and TV.

You can try that and see if the it sounds better.

Maybe it will sound exactly the same. If this is the case, then just go with whichever looks better aesthetically. :D

They certainly want a piece, but it's not going to happen without offering more diverse video ports at the back panel. Ever. For consoles, HDMI only is fine. Consoles do not offer any other interface anyway. For PC world, they will need to put more effort to evolve boards and offer DisplayPort too. See this post for what AVRs need to develop to be truly competitive in this market. #2,438

Do not forget that audio solutions in PC world are very diverse and competitive already, from onboard ever improving audio, to add-in cards like sound blaster, to multi-channel desktop systems, soundbars, etc. AVRs would need to offer a good value, attractive connectivity and feature appeal to become more popular in that market. With HDMI ports on offer only, this is not possible. A simple restriction is number of combinations of resolutions and refresh rates in AVR's EDID, which is mostly restricted to 1080p and 4K only due to traditional focus on consumer electronics sector. Most AVR machines do not support 1440p, let alone more diverse screen settings. This is automatically a no go for PC people and they will avoid AVRs and favour direct DisplayPort connections, without elaborate workaround for sound. AVRs' HDMI boards are not well-suited at this moment to integrate into PC ecosystem.

As for revenue money, almost $90 billion is just mobile gaming worldwide. The figure is much higher across platforms. It's an exploding industry. See below.

Lockdowns have brought families together around games. :)
To be fair...

They are retired, but they've always been like that. We got a PS2 for Christmas along with some games.

My parents hogged the console for TWO ENTIRE DAYS playing some RPG they never got through because they screwed it up at the beginning of the game. They were not happy.

I was happy to finally get to play with my new console though. :)

Same with the SNES. They got us Donkey Kong Kountry when it came out and had somehow gotten it early and played through half the game and re-wrapped the console and the game so we wouldn't know.

The 57% save kind of gave it away, plus the "don't play that save" made it pretty clear what happened.
