Will a game console work properly in a A/V Blu Ray HDMI input?

Hi everyone
I have an Onkyo HT-R695 A/V receiver that has only three HDMI ports that support HDCP 2.2 and four that supports HDCP 1.4. I have a Nvidia Shield TV Pro in one of the HDCP 2.2 ports(Stream Box) and my PS4 Pro in one of the HDCP 1.4(Game). So, I am considering buying an Xbox One X instead of a 4K Blu Ray player and my question is, can I plug it into my HDCP 2.2 port(BD/DVD) and still have it work as a normal game console? Essentially, I want to have two game consoles hooked up to my Onkyo. I have read that the HDMI ports are assignable but couldn't find any concrete info pertaining to my question above.

Yes.. mostly. Originally the PS4 Pro was built with HDMI 1.4 support. In October 2016 there was an update (4.05 I think) but there have been issues with it. Not really followed it since then. But try it and see. Just make sure to update the latest revision There are some guides to get things working if there are any issues. Use your Google powers if that is the case.

Sorry. But the answer to the question is that the port name other than for reference means nothing. So yes it will work. I had, at one time, a PS4, Xbox One, BD player, cable , Nvidia Shield, etc. Both game systems werw connected at the time and only one port was defined as "Game" and both worked fine.

Yeah, I misread your question thinking it was more about the HDMI compatibility rather the the port descriptions

Yes, avr doesnt care what you connect to HDMI port.
