Wife was in a car accident yesterday :(

We of course have full coverage. Definitely not dirt cheap though. I pay ~$185/mo for the two of us. It keeps getting more expensive and I don't know why (no at fault accidents or tickets).

The rental is covered, the tow is covered, it's covered if the other driver has no or insufficient coverage, medical payments and personal injuries are covered, so that's all good.

I have gotten quotes from other insurance companies but their level of coverage for the money does not come close to USAA.
That does seem high. That about what we pay for our two cars which have a value over $100k. Maybe an age thing?

Could be. I'm 30 and my wife just turned 31. Insuring a 2007 civic and 2013 civic. It was like $160/mo about a year and a half ago but every renewal it goes up for whatever reason. I've contacted them about it and they just have the generic "rates increased in TX" answer. Again, I have checked other providers. Nobody comes close with the exception of Amica. Our rates will go down next renewal, however, now that we have homeowners insurance as well.

I would be willing to pay higher prices if I could trade that for being 30 again.

Dunno mine is around 80 a month. Pretty sure all those fancy safety features actually make insurance cheaper. I don't think the car value actually matters too much since my car is worth around 4k.

Got the police report yesterday. Really inconvenient that Fort Worth PD does not have accident reports available online. $6 for the report plus $2.50 for parking isn't terrible I guess.

Here are the contents of the report:
UNIT 1 TRAVELING SOUTH BOUND IN LANE 2. UNIT 1 THEN MERGED
INTO LANE 1. THE TRAFFIC IN LANE 1 THEN CAME TO A SUDDEN
REDUCED SPEED. UNIT 1 THEN MADE AN UNSAFE LANE CHANGE INTO
LANE 2 CAUSING A COLLISION WITH UNIT 2. UNIT 1 THEN CONTACTED
HIS RIGHT REAR QUARTER PANEL TO UNIT 1 FRONT LEFT QUARTER
PANEL.

The other driver was issued a citation for "lane change not in safety."

So that's all good :)

You can't even run over someone in my wife's car, the stupid thing won't let you as it stops itself.

I can run over people in mine though......:D

Won't be long before your car practically drives itself.

And they call that progress. Before you know it, cars will make you leave 3' space when passing a bicycle. Geez!!! Let's get a good 60s Classic while they're still available... and drive where we want to! ;)
