Glad it worked out. Sorry for hijacking thread for atmos and such. Seems Tidal app is available on some new Sony TVs as well.
Exactly, it's a little confusing and complicated. The Atmos or DD+ music sounds fantastic. I just need Amazon music to offer the same and I'll be good but not from the Echo or something. Just let my home theater do the hard work.As for MQA, don’t worry about it. It's just their hi-res nonsense and nothing to do with lossless(16/44.1) or atmos(DD+/metadata) tracks. Instead of straight up 24/192 tracks like those found on Amazon Music Ultra HD or Qobuz, Tidal requires two devices that support the MQA “unfolding” process for 24/192. So, the streaming device AND the DAC have to support it. Apple isn't much better and requires an external DAC for 24/192 from iOS device or Mac. HDMI from Mac and Apple TV do NOT support 24/192 and are capped at 24/48.
For those only interested in two channel CD quality 16/44.1 tracks, there are now many streaming options such as from Amazon Music(HD), Apple Music, Deezer, Qobuz, Tidal… and others.
Do you have atmos speakers?Exactly, it's a little confusing and complicated. The Atmos or DD+ music sounds fantastic. I just need Amazon music to offer the same and I'll be good but not from the Echo or something. Just let my home theater do the hard work.
Anyone have any info on Amazon music adding DD+ music or Atmos music to the general app. For home home theater?

My Fire Sticks don't even have a pcm setting. You can set to:Oh, and question for Fire device folks. Do Fire devices have the ability to convert to PCM and retain multichannel signal or is it down converted to two channel PCM? I'm resisting the urge to go out and get another device. Still wish I'd hung onto the NVIDIA Shield Pro.But, only so many HDMI ports. I guess I could let a couple of components go and get a Fire Cube and NVIDIA Shield Pro as stocking stuffers this year.

Interesting. Is your firestick an older model as I just got mine and it has DD+, DD, and PCM. HDMI is the only output. I have it plugged into an audio extractor which then sends it to a DAC so I can input an Analog signal into my Integra processor and get music to my zone 2 and 3.My Fire Sticks don't even have a pcm setting. You can set to:
1/ Dolby Digital Plus Automatic
2/ Dolby Digital Plus Off (which yields stereo only audio for programs normally available in DD+)
3/ Dolby Digital Plus over HDMI (and on this one says if your device does not support DD you will receive stereo quality audio)
4/ Dolby Digital over HDMI
Yep older models. Plain old Fire Sticks, not 4k....per the details it's a Fire TV Home Version 6330044.1, Software version Fire OS 5.2.8.2 (668700720) whatever the hell that all meansInteresting. I am not sure if their is multichannel content on Amazone music HD so am not sure how to test that.
You answered your own question on the main post, where you've mentioned Device capability 16 bit /48 kHz.Wait PC ... I am streaming from Amazon Music through Google App via Sony A90J TV to Marantz receiver no PC here
I'm wondering if this is an Android OS thing. I have this problem with my LG V50 ThinQ phone. Amazon Music HD says my device capability is only 24/48. But my phone has an ESS ES9218P SABRE DAC, or "QUAD DAC"; ESS says this DAC supports up to 32-bit 384 kHz PCM, DSD512.Well then I am usless, lol.
Now that I think about it, I also have a firetv (android) and it won't play the higher resolutions either. I can only get it with my pc.
Oh man that is an awesome one! Sounds amazing, and I have no idea how I discovered it a few months ago. The bass is intense for an acoustic song. Sounds absolutely amazing. This sounds wonderful in 24 bit Chris Jones is amazing ...
Well now that explains a lot with Amazon fire devices! For all those wondering, Android has a limit of 16bit/48khz so no matter what device you are running, it will limit you to that. Amazon fire devices also run Android. People have been asking for this to be increased for years.

I'm one of those throwbacks as well. Pretty much 99.9% of my streaming is lossless cd rips direct from my hard drive. I haven't heard a streaming service that sounds any better no matter the resolution.I'm wondering if this is an Android OS thing. I have this problem with my LG V50 ThinQ phone. On the other hand, 16/44, 16/48, or 24/48 sound great anyway, definitely an improvement over standard Amazon Music streams or the mp3s that are usually included with an Amazon CD purchase (yes, I'm one of the few throwbacks who still buy CDs and want physical media sometimes). I'm not so sure I'm missing much by not being able to stream what little 24/96 or 24/192 content there is. I wonder if I could tell the difference.
I have the 4k firestick and it passes 24/96 fine when set to DD+. Didn't try a 192.For all those wondering, Android has a limit of 16bit/48khz so no matter what device you are running, it will limit you to that. Amazon fire devices also run Android.
