That servo control is the way to go for accurate bass. They actually use an accelerometer and a feedback loop to correct the excursion of the woofer. That would mean the response would be linear and have an almost perfect phase response. WOW.
Mac - Have you ever tried out a DD-18 ? The upgrade to auto eq is really fantastic...

Add the servo feedback control, and you have perfection. But they're pretty damn good now I'd say.

Hardcore...and so quickly too. We just completely hijacked the thing in like, 10 minutes. Must be a new record. Now I just have to win the lotto so I can get a pair of those JLs...

.....so two of the JL 12's are $4400....and would tear arms off, and that would be neat to have, but overkill to my needs.....my route is looking at about $500, which includes a Behringer 2496, two 12 inch elements, wood, silicone, screws, and glue....already got the amp, which probably won't have to be replaced....today was daughter day, hopefully car shop tomorrow.....

That is sweet. I'd be willing to bet that sub sounds awesome. I had thought about building a feedback system for mine using a Michelson interferometer, but I figured it was a little bit of overkill for a sub, and would be difficult to align.
It is a great sub. Build your own feedback system ? THAT would be impressive. This is great. I gotta meet another smart guy ... :D

I just read the review on the 1812....it's such a beast. It's the only audio component I've seen that needs something beefier than an IEC input (aside from a Boulder Monoblock).

I love the quote from the review:

"The statement it is making to the rest of the subwoofer world? That's simple, it's two words, and the first begins with 'F'."

I saw that last week, UBID.com had 'em at $220 including shipping. You'd think they are losing money over at Cadence. "The Big Sub Giveaway!" Weird.

I ordered right off the website. It was about $250 with shipping. My wife was shaking her head at me, until I told her that not only was this review going to help guys who are looking for a budget sub, I was also going to put it in her new exercise room after the review.

All of a sudden, she liked the idea ... :D
