As per the thread title I have my eye on a pair of second hand Quadral Quintas 215s floorstanding speakers from the early 90s, currently for sale on an online auction site....And I need some advice... After much extensive google searching I've managed to find specifications and some decent pictures but only the briefest mention as to what kind of sound signature these speakers might have.
A while ago I decided after recently putting a fair few hours into a set of audio technica AD700 headphones that while I like the sound of my current Mission m71 book shelf speakers particularly with a 10" wharfedale sub to bring in the low end and they are good as far as entry level bookshelf speakers go. I'm after something that has a bit more in the way of detail and soundstage, something with more of an ability to draw me into the music. So to cut a long story short a few months ago I spent a couple of hours listening to a pair of Quadral Quintas 505 floor-standers and I found I was quite impressed by what I heard.
I suppose really my question is how would the quadral quintas 215s compare with the quintas 505, can I still expect something of the decent sound stage detail and bass extension that I heard from the quintas 505? even though the 215s is 20 years older although they're both speakers from the same product line with similar dimensions.

Unfortunately a set of new quintas 505 speakers are outside my budget but at a third of the price I'm quite liking the sound of a second hand pair of quintas 215-s assuming of course that quadral quintas speakers produced in the early 90s were of a quality that can be compared with todays lineup.
I'm really hoping that someone around these parts has some knowledge of quadral speakers and can help me out here.
****This thread is a re-post of the one I created over at avsforums in the hope that some here knows a bit about Quadral speakers****
