Sorry, Vent- not trying to hijack your thread, but as the others have pointed out we've made copious suggestions. It's now up to you to do some listening & see what catches your ear.
Ok ok ok, I will go out and do some listening to some speakers. I like the Acoustech speakers, but I dont know where to go test them out....... I will go reseach that also about the dvd players.

I heard a few Polk speakers and they sounded failry decent. I could not find anywhere that carried the Acoustech speakers so I have not tested them out yet. The specs look impressive but im still not sure if I should get the BIC acoustech over more well known brands such as Paradigm. Most of the reviews on the acoustech have people sayint that they perform better than Klipsch...... im not sure if thats a bunch of B.S. or not.

Just do it, you will be amazed!! I said at this price they must be crap. no way can they compare to klipsch, THEY DO AND EVEN MORE!! they sound great, full sound - plenty of bass and unbeatable price. read all the reviews - they are from customers just like me - i love them, you can buy 2 full acoustech systems for the price of 1 klipsch or infinity system. Best of all the quality in sound and a full warranty!!! just buy them.

I was looking at buying a Klipsch speaker system for around $2000, I talked to Eric, he recommended the Bic system, I purchased the Bic Acoustech 6 speaker system without even hearing them, they sound awesome and were about a third the price of the Klipsch. The Delivery was prompt, the speakers were packaged very well.I would recommend Bic Acoustech and Sound Distributors to anyone.

Here are just a few reviews where customers comapre their acoustech speakers to Klipsch and say that Acoustech is better..... i read many other reviews and testings from many other sites. They all say the Acoustech speakers perform as well or better then Klipsch.

I mean, "maybe" they can perform as well as the low-end Klipsch speakers... but can they really out perform the synergy line?

I have the BIC's running through a HK AVR 330 and love the combo. Go listen to the Kilspsch to see if you like the horn tweeter sound.

Just remember when you are reading online reviews, especially those from individuals, not reputable ezines, magazines, etc, that most people feel what they have is the best thing ever made. And to their ears it might be. However, many of those people have never actually listened to more than one or two specific speakers, and if they have, it may have only been for a few minutes, not for a few weeks in their living rooms. Point being that often their opinions can be tainted.

It's not that all reviews are bad, you just have to consider the source. You'll find better results in forums than in posted reviews (again - same principle may apply). Keep doing what you are doing now, listening and deciding for yourself what is best for you.

The onix ls probably will on the music side of things(@ $200/pr) but I don't think you can beat the Acoustech series for home-theater use <$800. The H-100 sub is one of the best at it's price point.

I think you need to buck up and get something.....13 pages man, that's got to be a record.;)

Don't be afraid to take your time...

...My first pair of speakers (nicer ones) didn't take me long to choose. I walked into a store and listened to several different brands, I had no idea what I was listening for, I just picked the ones I could afford that I thought sounded best.

When I went to upgrade, it was a whole 'nother story. I spent 3 or 4 weeks researching, listening to speakers in stores, and worrying that what I was thinking of buying might not end up being as good as something else I had seen or hadn't heard about yet. Finally, I went to one store that told me I had 30 days to audition speakers and return them if I didn't like them, so I started trading around a little until I made a final decision. I was very happy with my final choice...

...Then I started upgrading.

The perfect speaker is the one you like most. Take your time and don't worry too much, chances are in a few years you'll want to upgrade anyway.

The BIC Acoustech speakers are 800.00, and that includes sub and 5 speakers.

If I go out and build my own speaker system using 100.00 speakers and I buy a 200.00 subwoofer, will that even be able to compare with the BIC Acoustech system in the end? That is what im deciding on now, should I go out and build my own system or just go ahead and purchace the BIC Acoustech system...... I think I will also need to upgrade my AVR since its quite old. So 800.00 + 250.00 = a lot of money.

After seaching quite a bit on this site, I havent come across many people who actually "own" the BIC Acoustech Speaker system, most people ask about them but never actually purchace them........

I heard that Paradigm speakers are good, but with them at about 200.00 a piece, their a little out of my price range. Maybe the BIC Acoustech is realy teh best choice for me, I have yet to find a speaker system that is a good as the BIC Acoutech with that same price.

Also, I heard from some people that BIC speakers are cheap alright, but they use cheap drivers and plastic cabnets........ I have no idea if they are just making stuff up or if they are actually telling the truth. Since I have no idea to actually listen to the BIC Acoustech speakers b4 purcahcing them...... this is more like a reseach, read a few reviews, and then purchace on what other people have to say about the speakers. This is quite risky I think, and I would like to avoid getting a "mediocre" speaker with cheap components again.... boy, I felt like a fool after hearing from so many people here how bad BOSE was. I actually had a friend of mine recomend me to buy the BOSE Acoustimass speakers a few yrs back, what a waste of money.... but anyways, I am asking so many questions because I would like to avoid such a purchace again.

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR YOUR HELP! :)

I think the build quality on them is rather good for the price. They feel solid and they sound very good for what they are. I honestly don't think you will be disappointed. You will not find a $200 sub that will beat the H-100 and unless you can up your budget to around $2k I don't think you'll do much better the the Acoustech set.

There were a few people here at one time that had the BIC's and none of them felt they made a bad purchase as far as I know. I have a few pics of my setup I'll post up here a little later.

I went from some Bose 701s($650 at the time) to the Acoustech HT-75, they blow them alway, there is no comparison.

Right now you're thinking 800.00 + 250.00 = a lot of money, down the road you'll be thinking a new reciever + amp + bigger sub + new dvd player + other toys = mortgage on house. :p

Another option is if you really like the more expensive speakers and truly want them is to start out with a pair of L/R speakers. Then down the road, when you can afford it add a matching center, then later surrounds. Pick up a cheap sub to use in the mean time. Use whatever you have now to fill out the system until you replace it. That is how I put together what I currently have. I started with a crappy set of Jenson 805 HTIB speakers that I bought on clearance for $100 at sears, with a sub. I used that sub up til last xmas (I really hated it, but it worked).

Yes, I think I will really considering purchacing the BIC Acoustech speakers if there is no other speaker system that will compare with the BIC Acoustech in performance and price... I think i'll go with the Acoustech then.
