TC 2000 sealed with 2400 watts?

I didn't see any with the terminal plate removed. I can just take the sub out and stuff the hell out of it. Any Links to "DIY stuffing"?

After doing some reading.... it seems standard polyfill would work fine at 1lb/ft^3. So that would mean I would use 4 lbs. However, it seems like my box is on the larger side of recommended specs. Isn't polyfill used to make the sub think it's in a larger box and eliminate reflection inside the box? Perhaps a more specific amount would be suggested.

If you are going to use just Polyfill, then fill the whole cavity just to the point where there is no compression. You have to fill a sealed speaker, or it sounds bad. Do not compress the fill, but completely fill the space.

Now the Polyfill will damp the enclosure, but won't do much to stop reflections, which is why I suggested lining the walls with mineral wool (Rockwool).

You can buy the Polyfill at Walmart, it is very cheap.

When I last bought it, the brand they had was Morning Glory, Premium Polyester Fiberfil. It is in the crafts department, and sold to crafters who make there own bedding etc.

When I built these speakers, it took a huge quantity, and I bought it by the cart full over several days. On my last trip, when the bins of the stuff were getting low, I was approached by three members of store security in uniform. They said, "we have been watching you, and have noted you have bought an awful lot of this. Could you please tell us what you are doing with it? To which I replied: - "I'm using to to damp aperiodically damped transmission lines." That of course sent them into a right tizzy. I'm convinced they thought it was some kind of terrorist plot!

Sealed 4.0ft3 NA NA 80Hz 20Hz 1.5 +8dB
Is this for my adjustments. High pass to 80hz with 8db rolloff and (like Wmax suggested) have 12db rolloff set at 25hz. With Q set to 1.5? I think I remember seeing these settings on the DCX... but offhand does that sound normal?

I did some additional reading and it suggested that I provide the box with heavy fill. I don't think I feel like putting rockwool into the sub ... I just want to get this project over with So I can get the wires off my floor.

People with serious systems...play this song and let me know what you think. It's when I play songs like this I realize why I paid over 1k for a subwoofer system.
I can tell you this sub eats every watt of power I've managed to throw at it, easily. I just blew the fuse on my EP2500 at max volume after watching the woofer work its tail off for 20 min. I am def. an audioholic.

I am glad you got it all worked out. I have been pretty busy the last few day's and i haven't been on the forums as much as usual. As far as the fill goes I tried it both way's and to tell you the truth I thought it was better without it. You can decide what you want to do ,obviously, but I am just happy you finally are seeing what that sub can do. Keep tweaking and have fun.....:cool:

That song has some nice lows, I play it in my car sometimes, well not the slowed version.

To setup your sub properly, you should be setting up the output gain for your reciever to just barely touching clipping, and then do the same with the output of the DCX, and also on your amp to where it just hits the clip lights occasionally on only the heaviest material.... with no speakers or the sub running, they should all be disconnected with the amps still on. Adjust the volume on your reciever up as high as you would ever listen to movies or music (with no speakers or sub connected but all amps on) We used +5 on my preamp. Then turn the subout gain on your reciever up until you see avery light red lights on the DCX input, then turn the gain up until you see the same on the amp. Now once this is done you can use the subout gain on your receiver up and down but never past the point where you are clipping.

Then you never change the settings on the DCX or the AMP, only vary the sub out on the reciever !!!!

We set this up on my system using War of the Worlds on the emergence from the ground scene, right after the police man is yelling..... We must have played that scene about 24 times to get it all setup right. Its lonly a 1 minute spot, but works great.

Generally you run into amps popping like that when too much clipping is goin on...

Well I can never really turn my system up past med volumes because it's way to powerful. I watch movies in my room and I don't have a receiver. So I did the best I could. I wanted to clip the amp because I needed to get threshold values. Now I know what is too much:)
I still want to put this sub in a ported box. Any reason Wmax suggested to not port this particular sub other than the large 6.6cube box size recommendation?

The specs are way out of sight to make a decent ported sub.

Very high Qts drivers just are not good for ported subs. Sealed is really the only option for that unit.

How would the TC 2000 rank against something like SI Mag 15", JL 12W7, SS-RLP 15", ID MAX 12"? I understand these are the very excellent relatively affordable subwoofers for car audio. I need a clear understanding of where the TC-2000 rates.

TC-2000 is going to probably out perform all of those (except the SS-RLP 15"; a similar class driver built also by TC) drivers, over-all, in terms of motor linearity/distortion at moderate to high output levels. The JL W7 is very close, however, and maybe equal. You would need to do a head to head test using equal diameter drivers from each model in identical test conditions to know for sure, if you want to know the results in absolute accuracy in direct comparison of one another.

Now, take the TC ULTRA LMS(SS RL-s is the same); nothing in the world is known yet to compare to these in terms of linearity, though I'm sure there will be a comparable device from someone in the future. I would bet on JL's next generation premium drivers for one.

Especially in the lowest range. From Illka's test it was shown that the box actually is what limits the LMS driver. Illka did do a PR build that had the highest 20hz reading of any sub he tested.
 
Yeah, he made the boxes too small, but the LMS still made quite an impression on all the tests as to how good it really was even in the small box....

My boxes are 6^3 net, and that seems to be a pretty good size for them to show their magic !!!

The Build quality of those drivers is just over the top, and worth the entry fee if one can afford them... Can't wait until my pre-order comes through :)
