Some words regarding Neal Young removing his music from Spotify.

Yeah, needless to say I got a bit excited about it.
Talk about not needing to buy discs...now I wonder if I can do that with Spotify at all....couldn't even find the files first time I downloaded to see where they were....assumed that was part of the thing of needing the app to play.

If you do it from the app, yes you will have to play from the app. I'm not sure how these utilities work, but they aren't recording or anything, and they store in flac for me. I can see if a spotify version exists. I'm curious.

Cool, let me know where to look if you find 'em!

I found a few, but they aren't the same. They look at spotify play lists you have and go to youtube and make an MP3 of the song. Willing to bet that's not going to sound all that good.

I'll keep looking though.

Not sure I understand that. With the service level I have should be OggVorbis 320kbps but free stuff I think is lower bitrate mp3, and have suspected the downloads are too (and still with drm to prevent use outside the app I've assumed).....I have no problem with the sound quality in general, tho. Where are you looking particularly?

Just github. It doesn't seem like there is a way to actually grab the ogg stream from Spotify, but some hacky way of grabbing music from other sources, and they won't sound good.

I'm not sure why they'd do it the way they are, but I guess some people find it useful. You're probably better off just using the Spotify app, even though it's DRM for downloads.

Switch to Tidal and I can help out ;) embrace the MQA nonsense. You know you want to.

LOL yeah me and mqa....Paul M is my new best friend, too. LOL. I did try Tidal and was surprised how much stuff I had on spotify they didn't have. I also hated the gui and Jayz ads.....preferred Qobuz trial but really was easier on more devices to stay with Spotify as the ultimate sq isn't important for what I use it for. How can Tidal actually allow drm-free downloads with the actual content owners is my big question.....but I can send you a thumb drive with a list of requests :)

My friend said the same thing. Only he put it "they should be glad Joe's a good guy because if he really did have an agenda this could be far, far worse..."
Other than running as a moderate and being something other than that.....

How much time do people spend listening to podcasts? If they're driving, I hope they can still reserve enough brain power to avoid collisions.

Well hopefully more time than the teenage girls and soccer moms on their smart phones.

Podcasts are just a non radio way of saying talk radio.
I know what they are. Thanks for explaining that to me. However, people can stream while in their cars, so.....

I was really asking "how long can people stand hearing someone talking and not be able to respond in a way that will matter?" Yelling at a radio isn't healthy.

I think his point is that it hasn't really changed in almost 100 years. It's no different than listening to talk radio, which has been around almost as long as radios.

Well, 100 years ago it was news and hog reports and now, it's people forcing their opinions on others and them often being gullible enough to believe what they hear.
