This is a thread on the audio implications of these tarriffs. Lets continue the political side of this conversation more in the steam thread if that's okay with you :).

I probably shouldnt have answered Lovins question on this thread I didn't mind the question it's just off topic of the thread. Sorry about that everyone.
Nonsense. These tariffs are all part of the same fascist campaign and I will oppose it on any forum were this vile man affects us all.

This vile Trump bloke needs opposing everywhere and every day.

Well I'm not willing to do that on this thread. I did start a conversation with you though. We could chat about it there if you like. Otherwise I have nothing further to say on an audio thread about this.

No Doc, you're wrong. As Danzilla stated, we have 'The Steam Vent' for such, thus dragging everyone's political views into any and all audio discussion is counterproductive to the overall forum. What perhaps you fail to realize is, this is one of the few sites that actually allows such discussion as a subset topic to begin with.

So, for all your smarts and insightful contributions you should understand this ..........

Seriously, I have no life.
No, it was just an opening of the relations door which had been shut due the commie thing, took the trade act of 74 to get that rolling. Believe 80 was first year of MFN status which was renewed yearly for 20 years until made permanent. Biggest objections I remember was over human rights issues.
And where is China WRT human rights now? I don't see anyone in Congress addressing it.

I agree these tariffs will cause extreme trouble for our hobby. This will be especially true of speaker manufactures.

So, the best option will be DIY. Unfortunately there are virtually no good US drivers for DIY.

However, the UK look as if they are striking a deal, and the UK has a lot of good drivers some available from US online dealers.

Norway may come to a similar deal and they have a lot of excellent drivers available to the DIY builder.

DIY would be an excellent way of reducing the tariffs.

I could work up designs, with ready to go data to take to your local C & C cabinet maker. So you can get a pro cabinet. The you just have to get the drivers an build the crossover, which is not difficult.

So, this way people could get better speakers than they otherwise would not be able to afford.

Looks like I'm finally going to have to take your advice and become a DIY after all Doc :)
