Sb-1000 pro not loud enough

Remember... just because you have a little headroom available to you, it doesn't mean you have to use it. ;) But when your neighbors are out...
Bump That Sh!t!

Down low, yes... PB 2000 Pro would be my minimum recommendation.
Ok even if I'm not after a wall shaker? My polk had more than enough power I just wanted something newer and tighter, not louder. But the sb is just too quiet.
I think my neighbors will flip out if I got a pb2000 pro lmao.
Do you think the pb1000 pro will be as loud as a polk psw505? I would hate to get it and be underwhelmed again but I also don't want something that will have my neighbors calling the cops on me lol

The reason I got sealed is I have a shared wall and don't want the walls rumbling. My polk has more than enough power and volume but it's old. I wanted something about equal in power and volume but the sb1000 pro is just so quiet. On paper the sb1000 pro outdoes my polk so I thought it would be louder than it is. I'm going to upgrade but now I'm not sure if I want to get the sb2000 pro or the pb1000 pro
I got a sealed sub in my bedroom it will rattle the whole upstairs, it’s not a good reason to go sealed for 3decib less spl .. I was told stereo integrity had better sound quality sealed .
Going svs I’d go ported imo , rythmic had better sealed models . Svs has some robust drivers but expect to pay a Lot .

I don't have neighbors, but I do have The Lady...
Regardless, what you don't use is Headroom. You want a little more, but you aren't feeling it. You have to go bigger. My subs are rated Bassaholic Extreme, and I have two in a 2000cu.ft. room. When I want them to be gentle, they are.
When I want them to be heard across the valley... They are.

Great I like that answer I will upgrade to a ported sub. I'm still thinking the pb-1000pro will do the trick....but I thought that about the sb1000 lol.
Still unsure and money is a factor too
Do you think the pb1000pro will be as loud or louder than my old psw505?

I’d expect higher sound quality and more spl , but that’s a expensive Polk how clear does it sound ??? Should be nice to have a big price tag ?? Or is it just overpriced.
Sb1000 gets a lot of reviews as a wimpy sub , If you want sealed get something a lot larger. Pb1000 is plenty loud id imagine but I’ve still not try to hurt us brand so I can’t say 100 percent. Definitely a big improvement over the 10” woofer model .
You may Need something way more powerful for a room that size… if your going for spl
Power sound audio or pc2000 pro etc as said below , you could use multiple 1000s 2-4 but not sure it would be cheap .

Hello I purchased a SB-1000pro to replace my polk audio psw505. From reviews I read I was expecting the SVS to be much louder but it isn't. I don't know if I should use the LFE on the subwoofer or disable it and use my receiver's crossovers like I did with my polk. I have tried both and the bass I'm getting is clear but it is not very loud. The wattage on the SVS is slightly higher than my polk so I was assuming the volume would also be louder.
It is my first day owning it and I definitely do not regret buying it but I wish it was louder.
Any helpful tips would be appreciated, I am also on the fence about upgrading it to a 2000 pro but will the 2000 be louder?
Fairly new to home audio and have learned a lot in the past month but I still have a lot to learn.
So a couple things. I have experience with both the 505 which IS ported, and sb2000. It has a rear facing slot port, and it has a little more output capability, but does roll off steeper like a ported sub will(24db vs 12). In any case, for reasons mentioned, the 505 will always sound louder. Even if it’s because it’s just non linear and high Q. Also, if you are using the LFE in on the subwoofer, you ARE using the receivers XO. Maybe I missed it… Again, the 505 IS ported, and that is the biggest reason why your disappointed. The SB1000 is definitely a nice subwoofer. But it’s no match for a room that size. Not that you’re trying to pressurize the whole space, but sealed subs drop off(roll off) around 35 hz compared to a ported sub which should remain linear down to its port tune. Normally around 20hz. Iir the 505 is tuned around 25hz. Depending on the content, that’s a big advantage, even for a lesser sub.
Imo, you should send it back for a pb1k pro, or a PB/PC2k pro. In either case, you’ll be rewarded with much more output, and much cleaner sound. As far as your neighbors? Well, if your friendly with them. Once you’re dialed in, listen/watch something like normal and have them tell when they can hear it, and when it’s too loud. Then you’ll know where the limit is.
Also, did you bump the trim up a few db after calibration? That would help.

Yes. The pb1000 will be louder. But most of all, it will be better. Nice and tight, nice and deep.
Again, I have experience with the 505. I don’t like it much. It does get kinda loud, but it loses composure when you push it, and it also doesn’t go very deep.
So really, there is absolutely NO place that the PB isn’t better. Price notwithstanding lol.

Yeah that’s why you research subs before going name brand , over internet direct .
If you had gotten paradigm it would be better, but svs is far cheaper until you get over $1500’ mark .
Glad I only spent 120-160 on my first sub , beats wasting money on expensive junk of same performance .. don’t use the klh much kinda sucks if too loud . Trash haha

I think he did research. Just picked the wrong one! For 1500? I’m shopping somewhere else.

ahh I see , the Polk signature series looks better.
Yeah it looks good on paper , just doesn’t perform to the level op wants .
Could work in another room as a backup sub lmao ..

My polk is 10 years old, was about $700CAD when I got it but they still sell them and they are on sale at Visions for $300 right now.
It sounds good but it's boomy. Wattage comparison to the svs 1000 pros is almost the same but the svs does beat it out, especially in peak wattage. 825 for the svs around 425 for the Polk.
I also love the svs app and being able to tweak it from my listening position.
I think I'm upgrading the sb to a pb1000 pro.
As for 10" subs I've owned one, for less than a day lmao, returned it instantly and got the psw505. I don't even look at or think about 10" subs. 12 or bigger for me

I researched for a couple weeks but I still made mistakes lmao, first off I thought my polk was sealed until today when I moved it and saw the port on the bottom of the back end lmao.
And I made decisions based off wattage as the sb1000 pro has higher watts than my polk. That led me to assume it would be as loud or louder but that was another mistake lol. I will most likely get the pb1000 pro as I'm not looking for more power than my polk just cleaner, tighter bass at around the same volume level.

Wattage among subs is only relevant if they're of equal sensitivity. Not much to go on.

Get a ported sub rather than a sealed sub unless you can't handle the bigger box that usually comes with.

The diameter of a sub is somewhat indicative but not everything, altho as they say no replacement for displacement. Personally I look to 15 or 18s myself.

As for wattages. I think almost every single one of us has been sucked into that whole thing. It does matter. Just not as much as we think.

This!!!!!
Except for the neighbors…..
Don't always need to blast it and an occasional soothing wave of low bass can be helpful to everyone? :)

Having something that doesn't need to work as hard for the same level is a generally good thing IMO

Agreed on both counts. Nothing like some deep smooth bass to soothe the soul!!!
