I really didn't post anything that wasn't true, or even in disagreement with some of the other posts. I kind of spoke favorably about sealed subs which a guess brought the wrath down upon me.
That's not quite the point, though....it was just largely irrelevant. Most of us are familiar with the differences....

OK, then why was it being stated by others?

Pogre: "The only advantage to going sealed is the smaller form factor. That's it. Always go ported when you can."

Auditor: "Ported Subs just take up too much space, they're not that good for certain rooms"

My comments are relevant to some of the previous posts.

I still don't see the point of your post. And why didn't you also highlight this part of the same sentence?

That's just dishonest of you. I don't strawman you like that! C'mon man. Let's keep it civil!

40 foot by 17 wide this fella needs 4 subs in that space .
Yea it's a basement with a hallway, a bedroom a bathroom and a big open space, nor ideal by any means and I plan on containing my home theater/listening space soon with either walls of thick curtains

I still like the sound of vented subs but I'm taking everyone's opinion and exchanging my sub for a ported one

For the record, I don't get uncivil vibes from you. I just think you're very passionate about this hobby. Also, you may at times get upset from taking L' s in these debates with me, but nothing really hostile thus far. :)

Ported Subs just take up too much space, they're not that good for certain rooms. I have an SB 1000 in my small bedroom and love it, punchy, tight, clean, and get loud enough. Don't have to worry about any port chuffing as well. :)
Nah some sealed subs are massive also , sb1000 is just too small of a box it wastes the drivers protential ?? Shame , for $500 it should be louder . Smaller box gives up ulf for space , but can’t go too big sealed unless driver can handle the X max.
Maybe good pc sub ? Or cable tv ..in a smaller room . Pb1000 pro def better .. then sealed model and not enough bigger to matter .

True, now $600 is kind on the high side. SVS products have been going up, they're no longer the bargain they used to be. The good thing is that SVS offers a wide range of subwoofers for different spaces and applications. I actually have the SB 1000 which was $399 and it sounds so good my room, clean, punchy, and tight.

I get exasperated because you strawman and argue against positions I don't hold, so there really is no debate. Then you act very obtuse when it's pointed out. As far as me taking Ls... you agreed with me. Besides, debate winners are decided by vote. Did you run a poll? ;)

As the op found out. Unless you have so much garbage in your room that it's the only thing that will fit I always recommend going ported when you can.

I agree you when you are correct about something. I don't agree with people just to be some go along to get along person. Also, I don't make strawman arguments, I say what I mean and mean what I say.
