Plus, they're likely cut off at 80Hz via the xover. 2" with a 2" gap should be fine.

Based on some of the polar plots that I’ve seen, I’d venture to say that many speakers begin to have significant rearward radiation starting at 500 Hz and become more omni-polar as frequency decreases. At what frequency are we talking here? My little SVS's only dig down to about 65Hz, plus they're crossed over to the sub at 80 as it is. Oh, well I should note that by the end of this week the SBS-01's are going to be replaced with matching SCS-01(M)'s, not that this is going to make a huge difference in this regard.
I won't argue with a proPlus, they're likely cut off at 80Hz via the xover. 2" with a 2" gap should be fine.

I sure don't. My HT sort of started as an easy setup, that could also be easily removed, and actually still is besides the enormous riser. I don't think I'll ever go so far to do a drop ceiling with tiles. Heck, I had pieces of scotch tape all over the ceiling for quite a while actually, marking future absorption spots, and even had samples sent to me seeing which would blend with ceiling the best, and I didn't even do that.Do you have a drop ceiling with acoustic tiles?
