Well, many Americans may not like to hear this, but tax cuts - for the wealthy - already enacted are partly to blame for the massive debt increase.

So many people complain about taxation levels in Canada, but it's only average amongst the OECD. And, our federal debt is about a quarter that of the US, on a per capita basis. CPP (our version of SS) is fully funded for the next 75 years.

I am wondering how our government is going to pay for the promised increase in defense expenditures, from under 2% of GDP to 5%. We'll be facing higher taxes, or higher debt. There is no free ride.
Your last sentence is what so many 'morons' do not understand. :(

What's amazing is that if you go back to the turn of the millennium, the U.S. was running a surplus for several years and well on its way to reducing the debt to $0.

Estimated $2.2 billion Trump has gained since returning. Like the debt now it's just a rising number. :p

This reminds me of a story a believer on Facebook posted where Trump is regulating a politicians raises etc to reflect that of the people since politicians work for the people. You just need to see the first sentence here to see the problem LOL.
