It looks like the hiring freeze and return to work order will severely disrupt operation of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

In addition to the hiring freeze, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) apparently just ordered all employees to "return to the office."

As far as I know, the USPTO does not have offices for the vast majority of the 13,000 remote employees. They can't return to an office that doesn't exist.

USPTO operations are fully funded by the fees it collects for patent and trademark applications. Shutting it down would not save any taxpayer dollars.

I fail to see any logic in this, especially given that Trump was pro-IP rights during his first term. Biden was much more anti-IP (full disclosure: I generally agreed with Trump's IP positions more than Biden's).

There are probably thousands of vacant Federal buildings across the country. I’m sure we can find some in Alaska for departments we don’t want anymore.

edit add: quick google search says there are over 7,000 vacant Federal buildings from sheds to warehouses to office buildings.

Name one. What do they look like? Do they speak or act differently? How can someone be identified as XXY or XYY? Have you seen any identified, publicly? What should be done for them, given the often late age for diagnosis? Are you implying something? Are they more, or less important, than anyone else?

XXXY or XXY: Klinefelter Syndrome (1 in 500 to 1,000)
XYY: Jacob Syndrome (1 in 1,000)
XY (Develops as Female): Adrogen Insensitivity Syndrome (1 in 20,000 to 60,000)

There are common physical and other characteristics for each of these, but can vary as the continuum is pretty wide. For example, Charles Barkley and Caroline Cossey were both diagnosed with Klinefelter and that's a pretty wide gap.

If someone has androgen insensitivity syndrome, they’re genetically male, but develop female. Does one go with appearance or with genetics to make a determination? The question of male/female can't be explained using two sentences.
