Sony 400 disk cd changer

How do you like the Sony CD Changer. I was tnhinking of getting one of their 300 disk models as you can pick them up for aprox $100. I've heard some people complain that it doesn't play all disks

I like it fine, got mine for 165 new from CC. Only one drawback. You CAN NOT move the thing once you put the disks in. They will fall out inside and get jammed. I found this out the hard way. You have to unload and reload it.

Yes, very easy. 1x2,s with colored burlap stretched over, then 1x6's on the outside to frame them. Then I have 6in of fiberglass insulation. Ceiling one is just a 1x6 frame with acoustic ceiling tiles mounted with 6 inches of glass behind them.

Thanks for responding. Just one more clarification...are you using standard "pink/fluffy, in-wall type", or rigid 700 series/equivalent fiberglass?

Its the Rigid stuff. Usually owens corning 703.

You can use either, in my case I am actually using both. I had some rigid panels already so I used 2 of them for each panel and also two layers of 3in pink stuff. The rigid is nice to work with but does cost more.

Just thought I would first say sweet setup. Very amazing, all of it (special note for the Pink Floyd The Wall display on your bookcase - extra-special Sweet).

I have a question or two though. The timing of reading your post was impeccable. I am (later this week) adding a DVD/CD player (and finally center and rear L, R, & B - yipee). Unfortunately I have had the hardest trouble deciding on some equipment for the DVD/CD player, and you have one of the options I have been considering. I assume that you are using the Denon for 'serious' listening or SACD/DVD-A and the Sony for everyday put on a bunch-o music? How do you like the setup? Do you notice a lot of difference on playback between the two?

I ask because honestly my TV is seriously lacking and I am mainly concerned about audio, but I still want a decent DVD player that will last me.

I've looked at getting the Sony 400 Disc DVD/CD/SACD changer (the kill-all solution with less quality and no DVD-A), Or the Denon 1920 now for universal/quality playback, and then get the sony 400 for storage and general playback. Those are kind of my two possibilities right now, and As you have one, I thought you could impart some 20/20 hindsight.

Matthew, If I had it to do again I would not use the changer. Sound is not the issue because the receiver is decoding all the signals but they are a pain to load. I have had it for a few months now and still have not put all my CD's in yet. I would setup some sort of PC solution for music if I had it to do over again. Either a mac mini sitting on the top shelf or maybe airtunes or something. Also, once you load the sony changer, you can NOT move the thing. The CD's fall out inside and get jammed. You have to unload it, then put them all back again.

That's too bad, but what you say makes sense, and a great solution with the itunes or macmini. The mini would also allow for a slick OSD with regards to general music playback.

Very nice!!! Im also impressed to find someone who hasnt made the mistake of neglecting the treatment of room acoustics. The panels look nice. My only suggestion would be to hang a panel diagonally in each corner for bass trapping.
