Masimo/SU Dealer Portal now says “HARMAN”.

It doesn’t say “Samsung” or “Sound United”. Just “Harman”. :D

Better marketing to be had that way I'd think....
I thought they would say “Harman - Sound United” or just “Sound United”.

Before, it was “Masimo Sound United”.

So now it just looks like SU is gone and everything is just Harman.

Sound United is odd to begin with IMHO (took me a while to not think of it as United Sound to start) altho better than D&M Holdings :). Harman better audio rep than Samsung otherwise.

True. “Harman” is probably a more-recognizable and prestigious brand name for audio and home theater.

Too bad they got rid of the prestigious Revel Salon2 and replaced it with a much cheaper downgrade.

They better not do the same to the B&W 800 Diamond speakers. :D

I think that Masimo really trashed the Sound United brand name, and I mean really trashed it. So I think it was smart of Harmon to put it on the ash bin of history. The sooner it is forgotten the better. I for one would be happy to never hear that name again.

I have just found this bureaucratic release from Samsung.

Sound United will continue to operate as a standalone Strategic Business Unit (SBU) within Harman's Lifestyle Division, ensuring that its brands maintain their distinct identities, product lines, and customer bases for the foreseeable future.

Key Details of the Acquisition:
  • Acquiring Company: Harman International, which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd..
  • Acquired Brands:The acquisition adds Sound United's extensive portfolio of iconic audio brands to Harman's existing lineup. These brands include:
    • Bowers & Wilkins
    • Denon
    • Marantz
    • Polk Audio
    • Definitive Technology
    • Classé
    • HEOS
    • Boston Acoustics
  • Harman's Existing Brands: These new brands join Harman's existing portfolio, which features names like JBL, Harman Kardon, AKG, Mark Levinson, Arcam, and Revel.
  • Operational Plan: Harman has stated that day-to-day operations, distribution channels, and product roadmaps for the Sound United brands will remain largely unchanged in the immediate future to ensure a smooth transition.
  • Strategic Goal: The acquisition is intended to expand Harman's core audio business and leverage the combined engineering expertise and supply chain resources of both companies to drive innovation and provide a more comprehensive audio portfolio across all price points and categories.

You really have a thing against Masimo especially without any particular knowledge as to what they did to change anything after acquisition. Then again your corporate and/or business knowledge I find minimal generally. Especially as Sound United let alone Masimo as a brand name didn't have a lot to do with anything.

Didn't realize Revel Salon 2 was gone (you mean Revel or that specific model?). What was the replacement?

With very good reason. Masimo were atrocious owners and custodians of Sound United. Just educate yourself.

Ah, had seen that both were from different "lines" within the brand or at least that's the way I took it. From what I'd seen mentioned seems they're damn close....
I think, if I'm not mistaken, the the 328be has a much higher sensitivity than the Salon's but don't dig quite as deep, creating a bit more headroom in the mid bass. I'm not sure how much that is splitting hairs as I really was impressed with the Salons overall sound.

The 2 Revel speakers probably sound very similar. But the aesthetic and built quality of the Salon2 is just much better. So it appears to be a cost-saving measure.

Masimo did the opposite - they probably improved on aesthetics and built quality of the B&W 800s and made the Marantz AV10/AV20 state of the art in performance, built-quality and aesthetic, which TLS Guy should thank Masimo for. :D

TLS Guy is really pissed off about the AV7706, which was part of the old regime, not Masimo’s fault. The AV10 that he raves about in every post is 100% Masimo’s doing.

If it weren’t for Masimo, you wouldn’t have the awesome AV10, which you love so much.

The old Sound United sold you the AV7706 that you hated so much, while Masimo sold you the AV10 that you love so much.

Or just one that sells better if the performance is up there? Neither look great to me aesthetically in any case. Are the materials cheaper in the 328? I just giggle about TLS and his preamp "corporate" journey/assumptions. Beyond his ken.

Not sure about that. I think Denon Japan probably went their own way in spite of Masimo. Laterly the only part of Masimo that was any good, was Denon Japan out of Shirakawa.

Yeah that makes a lot of sense.
