Marcus Oakley's "Best Recommendation" Questions

Hello Marcus many here will be more than happy to help you. However, we need a bit more info first. Like how big is your room? Is the room open to other areas? What is the budget? More importantly, how far is your MLP from your front-stage? Lastly, are you primarily a HT guy? Or, perhaps you listen to a lot of music as well? A lot of people are 50/50 whereas others like me are merely mostly music. Once you give us a bit more info, then we can help you. Are you in the US? Thanks!

Cheers,

Phil

I would be looking at the VTF-3 mk5 or VTF15h mk2 if it can be afforded. The others are good too, but those are the top dogs.

Has the OP gone AWOL? ;););)

My suggestion is to start multiple threads dealing with the same topic so that answers are spewed all over the place. If you spend $1600 on your mains, why buy budget subs?

No the OP has not gone AWOL. The OP is Marcus Oakley. The only thing Marcus does is post questions about which of two options is best. He does not follow up on the post. He never comes back to the post. He doesn't get involved in conversations on posts. Marcus does just one thing. He asks, which of these two things (sometimes its 3 things) is best. That's it. I have no idea if he knows anything about the questions he is asking. He just asks. Its surprising at this point in the movie that people still respond and some of them respond with lots of info.

Thanks for the info. Will keep this in mind. I just thought that he went AWOL. Just trying to be helpful. :):):)

can anybody tell me if you compare the hsu vff3 mk2 vs the hsu vtf 15h mk2
is there much difference in performance terms and in bass quality and how deep they can go in bass terms for action movies

The VTF-3 mk2 is a much older sub, and far weaker than the VTF15-h mk2. Do you mean the VTF-3 mk5? The VTF-3 mk5 is a lot like the VTF15h mk2. The chief difference will be low end performance. The VTF15h mk2 will be able to stay cleaner at louder levels in deep frequencies than the VTF-3 mk5 due to the larger ports and enclosure size. This won't affect performance above 35 Hz or so, so it is only applicable to deep bass.

In the UK you also have easy access to BK Electronics and M&K subwoofers. SVS also has a lot of distribution there. I'm just suggesting Hsu Research isn't your only option. I think the BK subs are pretty good and the company being based there you might escape a larger VAT fee. According to their website, they started by making subs there for REL, a Canadian company.

If I said "musical bass" instead of "clean bass" would you still give me a Dumb x2;)

remember, this is Marcus Oakley as the OP. One line responses are overkill. A paragraph, well, its bigger.
He won't see your response. He won't ever check back. He is Marcus Oakley. I love the guy's endless search for knowledge at someone elses expense.

I am told that Ford motorcars make the best 4k TVs nowadays, but I don't have any verification of that.
