Looking to run a true 5HZ signal to my Sub woofers but think my anthem receiver will Bottle neck this.

You may have already said it, but I wanted to ask, what is the lowest frequency that you have ever run into on an LFE, Atmos track?

When I was testing this stuff I found examples like Edge of Towmorrow / War of the Worlds with around 10Hz or lower and what it told me was their sound engineers were idiots because there's not a single commercial movie theater in America capable of playing it. Even the biggest baddest pro subs for theaters roll off around 20Hz or so, at best.

I'd also bet money they themselves in their production facilities heard squat but it looked good to them on their DAW's spectrum analyzer display panel.

Looks like it was 3Hz. Ed Mullen of SVS was the one who charted it IIRC. It used to be over on AVS I believe.

Oh whah, blah blah this and blah blah that, osha? Who gives a fukk about osha… this is a home theater. Most home owners are sane and can tell when volume levels are reaching levels that are too high. Ffs, how about common sense, and a little grace.

@Allan Voss, build subs that are solid to 16-18hz and build a hovereze, or a BOSS type riser for your couch. AVS has a TR (tactile response) thread dedicated to VLF(very low frequency). You should browse there.
My couch is effective from about 7hz, up to 18ish. Not all films utilize that range, but the ones that do, I can appreciate the depth and tactility offered. Most music is above that range, but some EDM and dubstep styles do dig deep. There is much satisfaction there, and if your system can carry the “weight”, it’s worth it.

I have no dog in this race, but Fukk. This is a HOBBY and supposed to be FUN. Remember? FUN. It’s the whole point of it.

I have so much to figure out yet, but I had not planned on a riser/bass shaker for the couch. Maybe down the road, but I will definitley check out the thread you have suggested.

I know with regard to the sub woofer setup I am going with they are capable of hitting 5 hz without overextending the cones at 1200 watts, so its nice to know that I at least have that capacity.

I likley wont be up and running and able to test for a month and a half at the earliest, but I am starting to get a little bit pumped for this whole setup.

I will be sure to get my grubby little mitts on those movies once im all setup lol Its really good to know that some movies will actually hit 10 hz for those that have the capability of reproducing it.

I think this is going to be pretty badd a$$ once its done.

It doesn't feel like anything [unless you gimmick the signal by applying tremendous bass boost artificially to levels that exceed our hearing thresholds for those frequencies or translate the signal to some other sensation like a flashing light or a buzzing seat cushion].
Just because you can measure infrasonic, infrared, ultrasonic, and ultraviolet light signals doesn't prove you, as a human being, can sense them yourself.
