Your response is exactly what my liberal friends and I have been talking about.

Exactly in what way? The whole thing of a conversation between some self-described "conservative" and making his friends "liberals" isn't all that believable, let alone some sort of actual discussion that's not reflected here. Seems more the usual butt-hurt conservative who wonders why his limited world view isn't simply continued as he sees it....

LOL. Who cares and do you really sit down with your "friends" who you deem "liberal" and come to such conclusions? Hard to believe....

Personally I find posts like yours more like the idiocy of Infowars (and may that schmuck get cleaned out with the latest court ruling). What do your posts have do to with much beyond furthering the idiocy of the current "conservatives" ? You keep posting these various threads like you have a clue yet you don't seem to have much of one....YMMV, tho.

Making a video? How about the lying, conspiracy theory driven republicans who want a criminal as president? That'd be a good one.
This is why so many rational people feel stuck between a rock and a hard place.

I mean just the election lie bullshit would be interesting if you had an explanation for that set of lies alone....
I don't get the election lies just like I don't get the voter fraud claims and voter suppression claims. Voting worked. The idiot is out of office. What more do people want?

I think I do. You have an ultra-narcissist who can under no rational terms accept he lost because his ego cognitive would crumble. Then you have voters who loved him for his unconventional style (ie owning the libs and flipping em the bird; what it amounts to at a Trump rally). Add to it a base who held him up to such a high pedestal. Is it any wonder they cannot accept the results??? Their entire world view would come crumbling down. He's the non-politician we've always been looking for who loves America and isn't afraid to show it! Except that loving America with all the freedoms it brings you is like saying loving America with all the freedoms it brings you from a con man.

My guess is that sane Americans want future elections protected from actual interference, fraud and voter suppression. The US seem to have dodged a bullet, but you are not out of danger. Trump is just a symptom of the problem, not the problem himself.

I imagine there's quite a bit of truth to that, but specifically for Republicans I think they've used "voter confidence" as a grab to reduce mail-ins (since it's overwhelming Democrats who vote this way).

Do you have a link to where I can find Frank Herbert's criticism of conservatives I'm having trouble finding any sources

I do love his interview where he says this country was great because it was founded by people with a deep distrust for government. Seems we've lost that in fact that's why I love Richard Nixon he taught people once again to have a deep distrust in government

Great quote by him just loved it and definetly speaks to me
It's in God Emperor.

So what?! VOTE. It's that simple. And if the next round of politicians suck, vote them out too.

9 out of 10 of my friends voted for Biden. Like I said, I live in Portland.

I have a few liberal friends I talk with often. One describes himself as a socialist. And his dad was a career police officer. And last year, he complained often to me how he was getting hammered by people on the right and left. People on the Left wanted him to bend to their dogmatic view of the police. And people on the right wanted him to condemn the rioting on Portland.

He's really tired of the tribalism. He sent me that article I shared with you. We've been friends for a long time. We see the world differently. We have conversations about politics and life and we disagree. And guess what, we're both better for having the conversation.

It's because I'm willing to listen that I understand his belief in Atheism and his belief in utilitarianism. I understand why we disagree on politics. I understand what's going on in the Democratic party, whereas many people on the right think the Democratic party is a monolith. And vice versa.

And that's what you may be missing. Daily conversations with people who don't agree with you about God. Politics. Philosophy. Whatever.

I have conversations, weekly, with another friend of mine, who used to be conservative, but he became a liberal as an adult. And we've had many conversations about what is wrong with conservatism and the Republican party, as well as what's wrong with the Democratic party and progressivism.

Ah, didn't see this when I read the pm. Belief in atheism means what? You one of these christian/evangelist type republicans? Seeing your comment about God in front of more important subjects, we probably have little to talk about on an intelligent level.

It means he doesn't believe God. At one time he considered himself agnostic, but he said that he didn't feel honest saying that, so he stopped calling himself agnostic. He believes in oblivion, just as another might believe in heaven or hell.

What or whose "God"? What is that? A construct of? Christianity is especially poor in that respect. What does belief have to do with it particularly, one needs a belief to deal with such?

Na Christie ain't leading no charge. Can't think of her name on CNN but she interviewed him and asked why in his book he says CNN/Msnbc are distorting with lies & conspiracies but he leaves out Faux Noise. Yanno the frontrunner in lies & conspiracies?
Woops, you did say lol. ;)

Really, how can you say that? Show me. Back it up with facts. Show what makes you believe that.
