LOL. Who cares and do you really sit down with your "friends" who you deem "liberal" and come to such conclusions? Hard to believe....
9 out of 10 of my friends voted for Biden. Like I said, I live in Portland.
I have a few liberal friends I talk with often. One describes himself as a socialist. And his dad was a career police officer. And last year, he complained often to me how he was getting hammered by people on the right and left. People on the Left wanted him to bend to their dogmatic view of the police. And people on the right wanted him to condemn the rioting on Portland.
He's really tired of the tribalism. He sent me that article I shared with you. We've been friends for a long time. We see the world differently. We have conversations about politics and life and we disagree. And guess what, we're both better for having the conversation.
It's because I'm willing to listen that I understand his belief in Atheism and his belief in utilitarianism. I understand why we disagree on politics. I understand what's going on in the Democratic party, whereas many people on the right think the Democratic party is a monolith. And vice versa.
And that's what you may be missing. Daily conversations with people who don't agree with you about God. Politics. Philosophy. Whatever.
I have conversations, weekly, with another friend of mine, who used to be conservative, but he became a liberal as an adult. And we've had many conversations about what is wrong with conservatism and the Republican party, as well as what's wrong with the Democratic party and progressivism.
