How to properly configure this sub?

When the sub is OFF in 2ch Stereo mode, the full signal is being sent to the speakers and they are outputting the bass. This will make the receiver run hotter compared to using the crossover in another sound mode and using the subwoofer for bass, which it will output better and more easily than the speakers.

Heat is your enemy here and a cool receiver is a happy receiver. Subwoofers are made to do the heavy lifting. Let it do it. Moving the subwoofer in either direction just a few inches can actually strengthen or lesson perceived bass output so play around with it.

Is it normal that I don't notice that much difference between pure direct on and off? I know having it on uses the sub because I can see it moving, and having it off doesn't move the subwoofer but honestly I don't notice that much difference when the sub is playing.

Could depennd on how you setup any processing outside of direct mode. Or even just content of what you're playing. You see the cone moving on the sub from where that photo was taken? At what volume?

Yes the cone moves, I tried music, parts of a movie and youtube THX / Dolby tests I'm only using pure direct mode, disabling pure direct doesn't make the sub cone move, I tried all range of volume

Visible cone movement doesn't mean much .... put your fingers lightly on the cone is usually better to see if anything is coming thru. Pure direct/direct on some units can still use the sub, tho.

I just did the test by putting my fingers slightly and I can confirm the sub is only being used when Pure Direct is activated

What avr/pre-pro are you using? You usually need to deliberately enable sub in direct mode in those units that allow it. Still may be more about the content than anything else....

Had to re-read that....so even in pure direct you get signal to sub or ?

Unless you're using a source input that has .1 channel content that doesn't sound right.

This is a confusing thread....one minute the OP says the sub is shaking the room, and the next he says it's doing nothing.
The sub flashing red/green is protection mode...somethings wrong with that sub.
(and a flakey power provider doesn't help either)

I’m using the PC connected to the TV with HDMI and from the TV to the receiver I’m using a fiber optic cable

the other scenario is the PC connected to the projector, the projector is connected with HDMI to the receiver

The red/green flashes stopped, right now I just need help with the best configuration, the sub is only being used when Pure Direct mode is enabled in the receiver is that normal? The mic configuration gave the sub +10 decibels someone mentioned that seems to be excesive

Doesn't really answer my query, but most likely you need to go thru audio settings for the connections you're using. Could just be confusion as mentioned.....

How is the PC connected ? What cabling ?
What is the audio capabilities of the PC ? It's specs and output parameters.

If you are using HDMI out from the PC for audio and video , then you have to have the PC set correctly...even then, channelling that through your tv to the receiver can introduce problems....

I suspect the PC to receiver connection.
Try a source other than the PC...anything, a cd player, game console...etc.

Pre out on Sony are awful for powering a subwoofer. Especially a monolith 12 that needs way more current.

get a y splitter to plug into mono sub, using both left and right. That’ll help a lot, most people do that with monolith subs. Then find a better spot for the subwoofer, sub can change 10db or more depending on its location. Don’t worry about having the gain set to max on monolith, but the trim on Sony needs to be at -5 or lower. At +10 you are sending a distorted dirty signal to the sub.

Try a source other than the PC...anything, a cd player, game console...etc.

That cable is fine. I think your problem is that ARC connection form your TV. Those are problematic. The root cause I suspect is the very basic receiver and HDMI via ARC from the TV. What TV is it and what are the TV audio settings.

Let me see if I understand this...you are using both HDMI's out of the PC. One to a tv set (model unknown), and one to the AVR.
Then, from the tv set, an optical for audio to the AVR.

What's crucial in this arrangement is that the Nvidia Control Program would need to be set to stereo 2 channel and the tv set would need to be set to PCM to avoid any conflicts if you are just using 2 channel stereo on the AVR.
In theory, it shouldn't matter what the Nvidia was set to...but in the likely case that these components are signal fighting each other it just might.
