i saw a system in here with this amp "California Audio Labs SL 2500 MCA Amp"

is it really worth 7 grand????

thats insane... anyways where can i see a picture of this beast?
is it worth 7k? that all depend's on who's buying it but i do know that you would be hard pressed to find a better ht amp no matter the cost, the 2500 mca is a 5 channel amp with 500 real watt's each channel plus the first 50 watt's in each channel are ran in class a,the 2500 mca is also able to place any unused channel's in a stand by mode,as far as i know it's the most powerfull 5 channel amp ever made.

I had to do an estimate not long ago for added insurance, so I got a pretty good idea of replacement cost at about $25,000-$30,000. Speakers are hard to determine since they are all DIY, but the electronics alone are at least 15K and if I add the wiring and cables in my attic, they alone would be about 5K. adding up my cabling receipts and materials was a shock, I had no idea they would be that much, full automation is expensive.
OK, you're the insane guy with the crazy IB sub in the attic, right? You need to post some direct pics of that setup. These guys would love it.

Unrelated.

Buckeyefan1, the Supersonic Coud link in your signature is incredible. It's amazing that a small streamlined object like a fighter jet causes such an enormous (typically unseen) influence round about it.

Meridian HT.

Hi guys,

I am in the process of building a new house, with dedicated HT. Still a bit off, so set up as best I can.

I am in Aust, so providing AUD and RRP (deduct about 30% to get what I paid).

$14,500 Meridian G68D processor
$30,000 Meridian DSP5200 active speakers (L,C,R)
$9,0000 Meridian DSP3100 active speakers (surrounds)
$12,000 Meridian SW5500 sub (350w, dual 15")

$4,0000 PS Audio Director 4.7 (line conditioner/surge)

$6,0000 Stewart Firehawk 110" screen

$4,0000 Loewe 86cm Planus TV (until I purchase the projector - purchased 2000)

Soon to be purchased...
$15,000 Sony VPL-VW100 projector
$5,0000 VisionProHDP video processor

Total so far is about AUD $75K, with about another AUD$20K to go. The room will be completely light controlled, stepped seating and intelligent lighting, so add another AUD$17K for that too. I am sure the wife knows, but she is in denial ;)

Cheers,

Chris

How do you find the PS Audio power cables? Did you test against any others? I have a PS Audio Director 4.7, but I've been considering the Virtual Dynamics Nite II and Master cables .

I've always loved the Martin Logan gear. Very nice.

Cheers,

Chris

I'd honestly have to say that spending money on expensive, magic power cables is a waste. If you desire good looking cables, you can easily make them yourself with the raw cable of your choice (inexpensive grounded stuff works great), some techflex, some nice hospital-grade terminations, and some heatshrink.

Power Cables

I like the PS cables allot. I've had some problems with interference and crackling in my speakers. I tried everything I knew how to do to get it to stop. The only thing that worked was changing the power cords. The sound is great, but I can't say that the cords made a difference in that area. In addition to that, I feel they are reasonably priced and are of EXCELLENT build quality.
