i like the JLs you posted they were the 12W0v2-4 12"... they run at 4 ohms could i keep the same kit if i use these ones??
When you connect both of them to your mono amp, it will be 2ohm.

IMO, even though I like JL, the build quality of these subs is not up to the JBL & CDT.

do i NEED this kit? with these subs? or can i use the 8 awg one that i have? (its in the original thread.) bcuz it was memphis and about $75 and i dont want that to have been a waste u know..
8 ga is too small for your amplifier, even with your current load. You need a minimum of 4 ga power & ground wire.

Actually, I suggested to buy the fuse holder and wire separately.

The subs should come with recommended box dimensions. Otherwise, you could look on the manufacturers site. I like the idea of a custom sealed enclosure. OTOH, any pre-fab 3/4" sealed MDF box that meets the specs would work just as well.

I like the CDT option for several reasons.

Kevlar reinforced cone.
Rubber surrounds.
Authorized dealer.
Competitive price.
They are something different.

Also, you need to either follow my advice of a relay and second battery, or annunaki's recommendation of a farad cap.

As much as I like JL Audio, I cannot recommend the W0v2. It models terrible and was designed to complement the compromises of the car environment rather than built to be a solid woofer in its own right. It has a net "q" over 1.0 in the factory recommended sealed enclosure meaning boomy bass if your vehicle does not supply a sizable low end gain.

I would be interested in modeling the CDT or the JBL woofers to let you know what the best choice may be. Vented will be the best choice if you are looking for the most output but is more complicated to build. If you can supply the T/S Parameters I can look into those.

ok for sure...

ok well i do have a capacitor.. it isnt anything special.. its the Scosche ECAP1 1 Farad Digital Display Stiffening Capacitor.. not very great.. but i didnt know before i bought it last year...

so guys help.. is it the JBLs or the CDTs???? the only reason i dont like the CDTs is bcuz of the color.. if they were black or blue it would be perfect since my jeep is black n blue...

which one of these subs will have more bang?
i like the JBLs but im not sure

this is my set up right now.. its a little messy because this pic was from 3 or 4 months ago i think... also i have 2 kicker 6in speakers in the ceiling of the car and 2 pioneer 6in speakers in seperate custom boxes. one under each seat that you cant see... none of the 6in have amps or anything connected to them..

also..

these are all 4ohm subs so how should i set it up to my amp? normal? what if i put these subs and my duals onto that amp at the same time? will it work or no? bcuz as you can see in the pic.. the set up looks pretty nice but i do have a ton of room...
i hav my amp n cap mounted on a piece of 3/4in wood i painted black.. any other suggestions on how to make this set up so it will look better or make more room or any thing else? also now that you know what it looks like it should help you help me decide what to do..

any suggestions on sum 15s for all this space maybe?

You will only see a small orange ring. Here is a mounted pic I found.

Connecting four 4ohm SVC subs to your mono amp will yield a 1ohm load. As mentioned previously, I seriously recommend an isolation relay with a second battery for such an application.

I do not recommend trying this with your 8AWG wire just to see if it will work.

I am a little funny when it comes to "cheap" amps. I like good amps. Zapco, and Arc Audio are two of the best out there IMO. They are expensive. Due to their expense, I run JL / amps.

However, I found a great deal on an Arc 4-channel from the same seller as the CDT subs.

http://cgi.ebay.com/KAR-400-4-ARC-AUDIO-AMP-4-CH-400-W-SPEAKER-AMPLIFIER-/130418385774?pt=Car_Amplifiers&hash=item1e5d8aa36e

Be aware that woofersetc is authorized to sell CDT, but they are not authorized to sell Arc Audio. It is at your discretion if you want to purchase the Arc amp from them.

The JBL sub seems to be the best fit in this application. It requires a smaller enclosure in sealed or vented than the CDT and provides similar or better performance.

A proper vented enclosure will require about 3.5ft^3 vented tuned to 23hz for each sub. This will require a slot vent of 2.5"H x 14.0"W x 45.75"L to keep vent velocity below 17m/s.

Two of these with 600-700 watts rms each in one of these enclosures would be impressively loud in your vehicle.

If you wanted to go sealed, 1.7ft^3 will work for each driver with an F3 of 43hz. The vented enclosure will offer over +7db more output at 30hz and +10.3db at 25hz however!

In other words, if you want it loud go vented as listed above.

What about using the woofers in his band pass box? Which would be better there?
