By the time you get this thing done I'll have my own home instead of this tiny apartment :D

I mean c'mon, Adam installed a new faucet and sometime in the next 4 weeks he'll have unboxed that new amp. He is far outpacing you :p

I think I have that but without the welder and the heliarc. I drilled and tapped for 1/4-20 screws to fasten the shelf. I've dragged that beam around enough. It wants to stay home ... besides, stuffing that thing into a fofo just reminds me that I am in fact driving a fofo. It's depressing. :D
Keep up the progress.
The power is going to be out soon.:D
I've charged all my cordless tool batteries, so I can use my work radio and work light.

Oh wait...you're talking about the wall, aren't you?
Yeah ... I think it's the same one the marathoners talk about.

By the time you get this thing done ...
That's a vote of confidence ... right? :)

The power is going to be out soon. :D
Don't even ...

You're just tormenting Marie, aren't you?

Face it, you're pissed that she made you leave Fla before meeting Jerry Lover. :D :p

I just looked at the radar ... you should probably bring in the hanging plants now.
Hold onto your hat. If anything happens to Mark, do you just keep the Magnepans?

Mark's not going anywhere. He's survived an asteroid and two ice ages...:D

It's waiting for you to finish that GD entertainment centre, that's why!

:D
I'm on it, I'm on it. I drilled holes and terminated my 120v and coax in the ManTown side today. Rick suggested that I do away with my science project of Frankenstein electrical parts so I did. The beam is in it's final position all leveled out and screwed in. I also found a flaw in the sliding shelf assembly. Some more drilling and tapping went into that. Once I level that out with the speaker on it it gets yet another screw to lock it into place and then glue all over everything. I can't have that thing shift or even worse ... fail. Dropping that center would absolutely kill me.

I was minimally distracted today but got some good laughs out of AH irregardless. :D :p

Alex, is this just an effort to avoid working on the entertainment centre?

:D
Nope. Yesterday I took care of some of my wiring woes. Being indecisive on your first time out on anything eats up time but that's good in a way. Time allows for better solutions to come to mind.

The sliding shelf is a done deal now too. That's a biggie. I'm not saying there won't be more consternating down the line on other issues but at least I'm past this.

Once again: do not try this at home ... in a space you use daily ... when you live with a neat freak. ;)

... and I miss my Infinities.

Oh, I think I just need to run 1 speaker wire for the FL and then I can insulate and close these walls ... drop my diffuser, frame and board a duct extension, build a soffit around it, snake some wire through a wall in the back of the room ... sheesh, this is wearing me out already. I'm going to work where I can make it all look easy.

Thanks for calling it interesting :) ... and thanks for your patience. :p

There that takes care of 2 of my 10 allowed images. I just snapped some quick pic's.

The front ... you can see where I accessed the box for wiring at the top corners (all low voltage). There's Coax running to the back corners of the room (for existing subs) and to the L&R speaker locations for possible future subwoofer relocations.

A critical design feature is this shelf mod. I had to move one of the brackets and install the Frankenstein looking slide locks. I'll down size those later and probably clad the shelf perimeter with Mahogany or maybe this cool looking Cherry molding I have.

The center channel binding post wire is loose and just tucked into that left hole in the beam to keep it out of the way. There won't be any wires on the face of the beam. The binding post is off center because the center channel's binding posts are centered.

This seems like a good time to spring my foot photo trap on Greg. :D

The above pic aside from making Greg a little sick shows the ManTown side. Of particular significance is the 120v exiting the wall in a normal fashion with a GFCI receptacle. That's Rick's doing. Just a note for Rick: when somebody is being stupid it's okay to tell them, "Hey, you're being stupid." Anyway the Monster power center plugs into that (the other cord is just to power up a lamp temporarily). The cable company coax exits the wall there too.

I got these Mahogany colored 2-1/8" (same bore as a door knob/dead bolt) wire grommets to run those two wires into the box. You can see a little of the unfinished (pun intended) Mahogany trim detail. I've got a variety of fans that I'm going to think about installing on that hopefully Chinese looking round slat thing.

And that is this week's installment of Don't Try This at Home!

So when does Cheryl come up for Sainthood?
... and here I am telling her that it's she who's the lucky one. But yeah, she get's it will be worth having later on and for now all I'm gonna say is that Rick would weep at the thought of all the vacuumin' I do. BTW, those DeWalt 18 volt/corded mini shop vac's are totally outstanding.

Anywho ... back at it. I have the box locked into the wall and the floor. Gotta sort out my L&R speaker wall plates. Little by little ... like the sands of f^%&in' time.

I'm looking to get a small rechargeable vacuum cleaner to keep in the kitchen. We had a little Dustbuster but the rechargeable battery faded and it got junked. When ever I roast coffee, I get little papery pieces of coffee bean chaff all over the place. My wife is always after me to clean it up.

The removable rechargeable battery in the DeWalt seems like it might be better than what the Dustbuster had.

Would that be one of these?

or is it this?

That's the one I have.

For a dust buster type thing we got this recently.

Had I known about the Dewalt in the first pic I may have gone that route because of all the other 18v NiCad stuff of theirs I have.
