1. How important is it to you to match the look of the surround sound speakers with the front speakers in a 5.1 or 7.1 system?

4. Somewhat important. I would like to get a matching set, but what works best for my theater/space is of most importance.

2. Currently, if you have surround speakers where are they located? If don’t have surrounds, why not?

4. Bookshelf or end tables

3. If there was a high quality wireless surround sound speaker available would you consider it for a home theater system?

4. No, I don’t trust wireless quality yet.

4. Wireless speakers have the amplifiers built in and so they need to be plugged into the wall for power. Would this limit you from considering wireless surrounds?

3. Yes, I want a clean custom installed look, the power cords would be a deal breaker.

5. When you buy audio electronics, some products use an inline power adapter (“Power Brick”/”Wall Wart”). If you are considering a wireless speaker for surrounds and where you’d place them, which would you prefer? (Please choose one)

1. Internal Power Supply, so it has an AC Power cord only.

6. If you were looking for a surround speaker to match your existing front speakers but had to buy another brand, what features would be the most important to you?

E - There is no doubt that a theater environment is a part of my home and just like I would try to avoid clashing furniture, I would like to match the speakers in look if possible. Yet, not at the cost of sound quality, and if one manufacturer can't deliver, or gouges on pricing, then I will go elsewhere. For the price and sound quality that I want.

2. Currently, if you have surround speakers where are they located? If don’t have surrounds, why not?
  • Wall mounted (Concealed wires)
  • Wall mounted (Wire under carpet or baseboards)
  • Speaker Stands
  • Bookshelf or end tables
  • I don’t have surround speakers because (Please explain)
B - I have my surrounds wall mounted with wiring in the walls. Adding a second surround setup to my home with in-wall wiring as well.

3. If there was a high quality wireless surround sound speaker available would you consider it for a home theater system?
  • Yes, a wireless surround speaker would be great.
  • Yes, I have a difficult room that doesn’t allow me to conceal the wires.
  • Yes, but only if I could find wireless surrounds that matched my current speakers.
  • No, I don’t trust wireless quality yet.
  • Other (Please explain)
E - Bottom line is sound quality and the room the speakers are for. I would not really like a wireless surround solution to be incorporated with speakers, but to be it's own product which can incorporate with any speakers and with any receiver. So, it would need to take the speaker level output found on (basically) every standard receiver and then wirelessly send it to some receiver/amplifier at the back of the room which can be connected to any speakers wanted. Yes, an integrated speaker/amplifier would be nice as well, or better yet, an option for a series of speakers to add wireless capabilities. But, if I could add wireless to any speakers of my choosing, that would be a great option. I deal with difficult rooms constantly where people don't want their walls opened and want surround sound with no wires.

4. Wireless speakers have the amplifiers built in and so they need to be plugged into the wall for power. Would this limit you from considering wireless surrounds?
  • No, I have outlets all over the place.
  • No, wireless surrounds are the only solution for my room because I can’t get speaker wire there.
  • Yes, I want a clean custom installed look, the power cords would be a deal breaker.
  • Other (Please explain)
B - Kind of a continuation from above, and not really applicable to my situation, but if someone doesn't want speaker wires from the front to the back of the room, then the only way to go is with a power cord plugged in. But, every room is different and plugs aren't always readily available.

5. When you buy audio electronics, some products use an inline power adapter (“Power Brick”/”Wall Wart”). If you are considering a wireless speaker for surrounds and where you’d place them, which would you prefer? (Please choose one)
  • Internal Power Supply, so it has an AC Power cord only.
  • Inline Power adapter such as Power Brick or Wall Wart with thin DC power cord going to the speaker.
  • Doesn’t matter
  • Please explain
D - I would like an internal power supply with a power cord which is rated to be run IN WALL! This way the speaker could be wall mounted (potentially) and the wire run in-wall down to an outlet near the floor level. I actually could live with an external power supply if the wiring could still be run in wall. The key is that a wall mounted surround can typically easily have a wire dropped straight down the inside of most walls which can really clean the look up.

6. If you were looking for a surround speaker to match your existing front speakers but had to buy another brand, what features would be the most important to you?
  • Shape/design of the speaker
  • The size of the speaker
  • The finish/color of the speaker
  • The sound
  • Other (Please explain)
D - C - A - B
This isn't really multiple choice as all those factors really do apply. A huge ugly speaker isn't going to work, but a lousy sounding speaker is NEVER going in. So, something that sounds good, has a decent finish (no bright orange), a size which is appropriate along with a design that isn't hideous. But, sound is king.
