I can only listen in 2.0 right now. Hope to upgrade someday.

7.0

I live in an apt and my GF won't let me get a sub, but my towers do a decent job of filling in the low end. I listen to DVDs in 5.0 for the most part, movies on cable I let my receiver blend into 7.0 unless it is being broadcast in stereo. I try to stay true to the source and do as little processing of the signal as possible.

For movies and pretty much everything else I use 7.1.

Just recently moved to a new house, so 2.0 for now til I finish remodeling, then I'll put the surrounds up and go back to 5.1.

I listen on a 5.1 system.

I want to upgrade to the full 7.1 but my room isn't large enough.

7.1

7.1 with all equalized with SPL except for sub set at +10 dB (makes explosions and gunshots phenomenal)

Answer to your question is......

5.1 for now. But hey if I won some speakers that could change...right?

I listen to movies in 5.1 surround sound, i listen to music in 2.1 the majority of the time. I bought a new receiver so might be adding to speakers for 7.1 soon.

I watch movies in stereo (plus sub, I note 2.1 was not an option)

3.1

I currently listen to movies in 3.1, because my surrounds are pathetic.
