I have two different systems, and both are setup as 5.1's. TV, Movies and DVD's all get the 5.1 treatment.

Music usually gets set to stereo.

Went from 3.1 and will never return! Am using a "rocket (marine life)" wireless speaker adaptor and it works pretty well.

I currently listen to movies in 5.1 with the two surround speakers on the side walls slightly in front of my couch, and have an extra pair of surround speakers for the back wall when I stop being so damned lazy. Then I will listen in 7.1

If I watch movies on my personal system its 2.2, If im watching them in our theater room its 7.1

Both have their advantages. But for movies I do prefer the 7.1

Depends on the source. My room's equipped for 7.1, but most movies are 5.1. LPs & CDs are 2.1.

What ever the soundtrack is recorded in, is how it is playedback. Unless there is a better alternitive.

I'm stuck listening to the speakers built into my TV. I guess you can call that stereo if you want but it's more like mono to me .
