Clean enough to distinguish the howitzers going off in the 1812, but boomy enough to make the room shake in a National Georgrapic zebra stamped.

Accurate LFE

Ideally, for me subwoofers should perfrom like all loudspeakers - provide the best possible reproduction of the sound. They should not get in the way, over emphasize or color the sound. Since subwoofer performance is a function of its displacement and power (among other things) all subwoofers are not capable of bone crushing bass, that said all should be fast and accurate - not only for LFE effects but also for music.

Accuracy. I would like a sub to have the ability to seamlessly integrate into a 2CH rig as well as be the major integral difference in the HT system.

Quality and accuracy is a given. I like a varible phase control vs. a 2-position switch. My neighbor has to be able to feel it working and it should weight at least 50 lbs!

Quality and accuracy is a must. That would require at least parametric eq and an easy user interface.

clean clean clean. any cheap speaker can make a lot of rumble, but if it's muddy, you're missing out on the LFE experience :)

I think the most important quality of a sub is to be able to reproduce low tight punchy bass without sounding boomy. A good sub helps the music/movie sound better without being distracting. Nothing is wost than hearing a sub instead of just hearing good sound.

What I am looking for is:

A sub that strikes a good balance between sonic accuracy, a boomy sub is not for me, and reasonable price.

his looks like it might be a good match for a smaller room.

Big factor for me is simply the build quality... I'd rather have a great build and less output any day.. What's the point of taking the house down if it's going to take down your new equipment as well and end up having nothing but distortion...

The most important part of any bass is the clear quality of sound. I like to feel the bass, but hate when you hear the boomy echo of a sub. Size doesnt matter so much to me if it does a very good job at what it is supposed to do.

deep accurate bass, ability to blend in with the speakers flawlessly , while also having enough spl to shake your whole house and brain.

The sub should be able to play low and accurate. I'm not so much concerned on bringing the house down just good clean bass is what I look for.

I'm really all about the REALLY low stuff, like depth charges in certain Submarine movies. I've got some great towers for the moderately deep stuff, I want the REALLY low stuff to totally rock me around.

Hearing the bass is just one aspect of a good home theater....FEELING the bass is where the actual fun is.

I personally love low extension without distortion. SQ is very important to me, but the lower the extension the more impressive.

Quality and Accuracy of LFE Playback

Given that when the source material calls for lots of deep bass or high output I expect if the subwoofer is accurate it will do both of these well. I have a smaller room so this would be easier that someone with a larger room.

Why Quality VS aesthetics, et al.

Simply put, once you've experienced clean, low-distortion, powerful bass, you don't want to return to a noisy distortion box that gives a colored, boomy LFE. I buy HT equipmet with the hopes that I will enjoy it for many years, so why invest money in anything other than quality?

Clean power. The ability to handle an explosion (sound effect) that's loud enough to shake the walls and make the neighbors dog start barking with the windows closed. AND, no distortion. :D

Quality and Accuracy of LFE Playback!

Of course it does not matter how loud or low, unless it is useable output.

Any sub can play loud...
