integrated amp contest

I can think of 6 options for the use of this piece of audio jewelry. I can use it in the bedroom but it wouldn't get much use there. I can use it for my garage system but I'd rather have it where I can see it better. My home desk is an option but that is my headphone system and I didn't see any 'phone jack on the equipment. Last but not least would be my classroom at school. I teach Bible at a private school and it would be great for praise and worship or just plain Christian music during reading or prayer time. I could let my wife use it at work but she wouldn't appreciate it. Same with my teenage daughters. They all would want it and I might be able to get away with saying "If all of you can't have it, then nobody gets it." The wisdom of Solomon. Any way I use it, I'd still have to get a pair of speakers that would do it justice. I have tuners and cd players to accompany it. Thanks for the opportunity. Dan

ooooh, i've been eyeballing the SP3 for awhile, now. it's completely, utterly impractical for my little NYC apartment with my 4-year-old running around, but it would earn a place of honor in my living room, powering a pair of small floorstanders that i plan on buying this fall (Energy RC-30 and Quad 21L are the current frontrunners). then all i'll need to do is upgrade my source (anyone want to donate a Rega Planet? :D ) and i'll be a happy camper.

I would use it in my living room with Definitive Technology BP-30 speakers. It would be part of rounding out my system and would actually be housed in the basement in a Middle-Atlantic rack using Crestron for control of the amp. Likely would keep using the Velodyne HGS-18 to fill in the low end.

Contest Question: If you win this contest, how will this amplifier be used? Describe what room it will be in (main listening room, secondary listening environment, dedicated two-channel room, etc), speakers/ electronics it will be paired with, any additional purchases you’ll make because of the amp, etc.

When I win I will place this in my home office. It will be used as my reference system to evaluate/demo all future potential speakers for a dedicated home theater room. I will buy a pair of Onix Reference 1 Monitor Loudspeakers with a High Gloss Birdseye Maple Finish. My additional purchases will included various DVD-A/SACDs from Chesky, JVC XRCD, Telarc and Reference Recordings. It will sit atop a Sherwood Newcastle SD-860 Universal Disc player. Sweet!

It would be used/tested with the main listening area..
At the moment I am using a 7.1/AVR. I would use for the front main channels and go from there.
The speakers are 8 ohm dual 6.5s and a horn tweeter (HT-75's Acoustechs)
I would seriously think about seperates at that point, and then possibly go with this amp for the surrounds.

Wow!! If I won? After I stopped dancing I think I'd integrate it into my main system set it up in my basement, which I've converted into a finished family room. It's a 16ft x 26ft music-center/home theater room. At the moment I am using an NAD/PSB setup and would use the Onix tube amp to power my front mains. As far as additional purchases in the future, that would have to be decided once I see how everything sounds.

If I would win this amp it would be my first foray into getting a dedicated 2 channel set up. I would primarily use this in small den/family room which is seaprate from the main living room. This is a smaller room with a fireplace and where my computers and networking gear are stowed. Presently I have a Pioneer 1015 VSX A/V receiver but would most likely purchase a dedicated cd player and would look at some x-ls speakers from AV123.

Certainly it will anchor my 2-channel system. The speakers are Meadowlark Audio Kestrel2, my analog source is a Pro-ject P6.1 TT, and digital is a RWA modified Squeezebox3.

What a chance for a first post!

Use: Dedicated 2-channel system.

Room: Living Room, prominently displayed :) atop upright Gloss Black Piano.

Electronics/Speakers: Would replace a HK 3480 to drive Dali IKON 7s with an Onix XCD-99 as the source. Preparing to add a turntable as well....

Additional Purchase: Turntable, and power conditioning/protection.

Thanks, AV123 and Audioholics :D

What to do???

I guess I'd use it in or living room for a dedicated stereo system. I enjoy listening to classical music while reading a good book and drinking my tea. What better way to relax.

I see others say they'd buy a turntable. Already have a good one that's packed away some where. Just need to dig it out along with the albums.

The real question would be what speakers would I buy to go with it  (I'm sure AV123 could help)

This amp is exactly what I am looking for to power my new Polk center channel (LSiC). It would be paired with my BA AVR7120 in my "informal" living room that consists of two much needing an upgrade Sony front towers and Phase Tech Teatro 6.5 rears. This is my main listening environment and is in dire need of some upgrades. With the money saved on the amp I would finally be able to make the front tower upgrade that I so desire.

Should I receive the SP-3, it would be placed in main (living) listening room. Equipment presently being used: Yamaha receiver, modified ancient Phillips CD player, Onix XL-S speakers, and Crown DC 300A amp driving homebuilt Sonotube subs. If the SP-3 does not drive the XL-S to sufficient levels the purchase of more efficient speakers might be required.

That would be perfect for a good 2-channel room. Of course, I'd need to get a good pair of bookshelf speakers, such as the x-Is, to pair with it.

I'd set it up in my main listening room.

Buying a new house in a few months, so don't know where that'll be.

Planing on getting a whole new system then so not sure about the other components. Probably be a dual use HT room.

I'd use it in my bedroom. I'd be using it with my Polk Audio speakers temporarily. Getting this would give me an excuse to upgrade my speakers (again).

If I win this, I will first hook see if it can drive my Thiel 1.6 speakers. If so, it will replace my current amp (NAD 218THX) assuming I like the sound better. In this system it would be paired with a Yamaha RX-V2600 as a preamp and a Sony DVD player as the transport. If it can't drive these speakers well, then I've been looking at a pair of Dynaudio bookshelves for the next speakers to be used in a 2 channel rig. The room with the Thiel's is large (18'x20') but if I make a secondary system, it will most likely go in a smaller room such as the bedroom (15'x18'). Of course, winning this contest would definetely convince me to look at AV123's reference bookshelves...

This would have to go in the living room and I'm afraid I don't know what I would pair it with yet. Guess I'd just have to see what works best.
