Emotiva I am sold

I asked that same question a few weeks ago. I have done alot of research and listened to the MMC-1 and the LPA-1 and they sound and look amazing. The price for what you get is fantastic. I highly recommend emotiva. You get a 40% discount on any upgrade for life and the techs on the phone were great.

My impression of Emotiva:

1) Amps are top notch in terms of sound quality, build quality, fit & finish, and aesthetics. The specifications/lab measurements of these amps rival most amps costing $3,000 or more.

2) Receivers, preamps, and pre-pros have been reviewed by a lot of people to be fantastic as well. They may sound fantastic. However, their specifications/lab measurements will not rival many pre-pros and preamps costing $3,000 or more or even some receivers costing less than $600. For example, the $500 Onkyo receiver has better specs in terms of crosstalk, frequency response, & THD+N than any Emotiva receivers, pre-pros or preamp that I've seen. But again, the Emotivas has been stated to sound fantastic.

Emotiva no longer makes a receiver and are concentrating on separates only. I have the LMC-1/LPA-1 combo and think it's great. You'd be hard-pressed to find someone not happy with their Emotiva product. Their amps are big and heavy so having a good rack is a must.

My Emotiva amp will be delivered today. Can't wait to test it out!

Many people liked them. The Audioholics reviews are pretty good.

Emotiva Amp

I have been impressed with the LPA-1 amp that I am using to drive my 4 ohm HT speakers and 2 channels for the 5-room distributed audio system. Excelent build quality, especially for a "entry level" product.

I'm using an IPS-1 and so far I have no complaints. It's built like a tank, looks very nice, and the fit and finish are excellent, I highly reccomend Emotiva products.

Try it, you'll like it. :D OR return it and you're only out shipping. Call and talk w/them before ordering to make sure you're getting what you are after.

When I returned the two BPA-1 amps I bought and exchanged them for the IPS-1 I have now, they even credited me for the full amount of the amps, plus original shipping costs, so I was only out the cost of return shipping, how can you possibly beat that?

I was so impressed with the Emotiva amp, that I even recommended to myself to get a second MPS-2 amp (used, but like-new condition, local buy).:D

I saw that... now you can live in bi-amping bliss.

It's really a waste of money, but since it was a used amp, it's okay.

The only bad part was that I did not get to insert those 7 power modules into the chassis.:D

I swear it, man. If only Emotiva made preamps that had specs to match or even surpass my Acurus (crosstalk -95dB, 20Hz-20kHz +/-0.1dB, THD+N < 0.004%, SNR > 95dB-A), I would get all Emotiva preamps.

But overall, I do like Emotiva a lot!

If my Acurus ever die, I would probably get the Emotiva preamps anyway.

I would bet that if you replaced your Acuras Preamps with Emotiva Preamps, you wouldn't be able to hear a difference. I just don't see how a small difference in crosstalk, THD, and SNR would make an audible difference. I say if what you have now works fine keep it, otherwise upgrade!

You're probably right. They probably won't sound any differently. But it would just make me feel better if Emotiva would just improve those numbers.

Now tell me, is that too much to ask from Emotiva?

Like say, "Could you guys do whatever it takes to decrease that crosstalk from -70dB down to -100dB, decrease THD from 0.1% to 0.004%, decrease the linear deviation from +/-0.5dB down to +/-0.1dB, increase SNR to > 100dB A, decrease output impedance to 10 ohms?

Do you think I would piss off Lonnie and Dann if I asked them that?:D

BTW, your Yamaha receiver has crosstalk of about -87dB, THD+N 0.008%, and freq resp of 20Hz-20kHz +/-0.3dB, which are excellent and better than the Emotiva RSP.

If I got the Emotiva RSP preamps, you and Greg would say that your Yamahas have better specs!

Now how am I suppose to live with that?:D

Just try not to get too hung up on numbers, as they don't tell the whole story. It's about the sound, not the numbers... after all, I could say my system is better than yours since I have 7.1 and you only have 5.1, but in reality, your system most likely sounds better due to you having a higher line of speakers. And then again, room treatments will make more of a difference in your sound quality than things like crosstalk, thd, and s/n ratio.

:):)OH, NO YOU DIDN'T!:):)

I was wondering if you were ever going to say that!:)

All in the spirit of fun and games, of course.:)

Man, I'm sitting here right now listening to Bach's Organ pieces in DSD (Direct Stream Digital) SACD 5.1. Talk about awesome sound and bass. I knew that pipe organs could go below 20Hz. I hear pipe organs all the time at my Catholic cathedral, but I have never experienced this kind of organ BASS until now. The bass is rattling my room pretty intensely. And for moment, I forget about all the numbers and enjoy myself.:D

If the cross-talk specs bother you just mark them out in your owner's manual and write in what you would like to see, you are not hearing it anyway!

I feel certain I will keep using a Yammy AVR as a pre/pro but will likely upgrade to the 1800.
