Circuit city: return HD DVD players for BD players

I'll fax you the receipt right now!!!! Gimme your fax numb.
rded: My point in elucidating this (CC's written policy) is far less about your prowess in achieving this singular trick than it is about the rest of our propensities' to duplicate your stunt...were we to so choose. We all only have so much time on this planet to be grasping at straws. That is, tomorrow is promised to no one. Peace.

"Rats" is right. Someone that buys an HD player from one store, and attempts to return it an another is a, well...use your imagination.
Good to know where you stand on the issue.

Wait, do you hear that? It sounds like tags are being ripped from mattresses.

Duty calls!

Run along now.

Chop chop.

I'll let the "rats" jump ship, waste time and gas, and then make a fool out of themselves in their attempt to return an item to a store from where it was not purchased. Let me help you guys: IT AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN! Sheesh.
Had you qualified that statement (i.e., “I don't think” it will happen) you wouldn’t look like such a jackass.

I'll be the only one left with a Toshiba strat? That's fine with me! All the more $1 and $2 titles for me to usurp and enjoy in 1080p/24Hz glory on a magnificent 120" glass bead screen! Apparently, the "rats" haven't actually experienced this phenomena (1080p/24Hz) on a large screen, with DD+ and True.
FWIW, I have both a Samsung 4696 (1080p) and a Samsung 4071 (1080p). Are you saying that you need a 120” glass bead screen to enjoy an HD-DVD? Common sense isn’t your strong suit is it?

Were they to experience it, they'd realize only a fool would return the player.
How is that Beta collection of yours coming? I bet you really loaded up when all those VHS “fools” went with the technology that still had a pulse.

Btw, the deal does not extend to software guys...so you've already let the cat out of the bag that you are trolls...what good are your HD discs w/o a player? :D
It is rather funny that a guy who joined audioholics 4 months AFTER I did, is calling me a troll. FWIW, I have no interest in returning my HD-DVD collection as it will still get use in the guest bedroom.

No matter to me strat...I have nothing but love to spread for HD...and I have no hate for BD. Hell, I may even buy one soon...my door won't stay open! :p And when they [finally] get their firmware corrected, and correct the flicker issues, and finally get 2.0 profile out (or are we up to 3.3 now? :D), and get the msrp of their discs below $25, and offer a player for under $200 (a good one), and...etc., etc., etc. :D
You sure do piss and moan a lot for someone who has “nothing but love” for HD

Really? Good for you...and bad for them (and ultimately the rest of us). I guess I can see whi you wanted to return it if you paid $215...people are regularly buying this player for $60-$100. Geez, for the matter, I can buy an XA2 for about $200...and as the msrp was $1100, really cash in.
Yes you could. It’s called arbitrage.

Got receipts to confirm this? Cuz I bought a juicer at Target and a unicycle at Walmart that I'd like to get credit for at CC. :p
You have yet to fulfill your destiny as a carney so I wouldn’t exchange the unicycle just yet.

Well...no, rded. I am not out to prove you wrong. Not my province. Not my interest. I'm kindly asking you to provide a link, or, as you have already performed this stunt, please upload the receipts to confirm. We all know that CC does nothing without receipts. Thanks in advance for the upload...cuz with that I can walk into CC and do the same.;)
Uh oh, someone’s moral compass is turned around. You originally questioned the act, but now want to participate.

I'm just funnin' with you Seth. :) Rumors like this abound in lesser forums...not here. If this is a confirmed deal that we, too, can capitalize on, great. Otherwise, anything less is a futile waste of time and energy to even just read...just smoke and mirrors. :)
Ethical ambiguity at its finest. So now that you have completed your 180 degree turnaround in a span of 12 hours, you want the same people you condemned to take time to help you?

Next you challenge rded for a receipt and he responds.......

I'll fax you the receipt right now!!!! Gimme your fax numb.
How do you handle his response? You fold like a cheap suit.

rded: My point in elucidating this (CC's written policy) is far less about your prowess in achieving this singular trick than it is about the rest of our propensities' to duplicate your stunt...were we to so choose. Wow….I haven't seen backpeddling that fast since Deion Sanders.

Just to recap:

Several members post about possibly returning their HD-DVD player to Circuit City as a part of an unadvertised exchange program.

You condemn them for their proposed actions and then proceed to inform the masses, albeit in broken English, how it won’t work.

Several members posted their success stories

You asked for a receipt so that you could partake in the moral sin and debauchery you once condemned.

Rded offers a receipt

You attempt a little misdirection as you exit stage left with your tail between your legs.

In the end, rded was only trying to let fellow audioholics know about the opportunity to exchange their HD-DVD for BR. You decided to make a few condescending remarks, and got your *** handed to you.

With a post like that? Yeah...you're a troll. Go spread your fraudulent ideas somewhere else. Many of us live and work honestly...not trying to cash in on others expense. Just follow the rules so stipulated in the CC blog...if you can...and my response has nothing to do with you. Troll.

CC is getting business from this promo. They are also distancing themselves from worst buy. Newb.

Really? So explain to me how...in your words (and quote):

"does cc require a receipt,box,ex..? I have HD-A2 from wal-mart ha ha, the 99$ one day only sale. Maybe i could slide it in "

"I'm in the same boat. I plan on at least trying."

So CC, in your mind, "is getting business" from this deal? You buy a $59 or $99 A2 at Walmart, and then fraudently return it at CC for $219. Next you're going to inform us that you will also be fist in line at CC to purchase BD software at full MSRP, so that they get "business from this promo." Newb. You said it.

Bear in mind that my request was first to post the receipt and then CC's policy. As none of you have done so, I posted the blog myself...which directly contradicts your plot. In fact, it's a fraud. My comment then was to simply follow the rules. You and your cohort apparantly can't do that. This plot of your's reeks of the stuff fatwallet and slickdeals is made of...15 year old kids fanagling the system in the most dishonest possible manner...ultimately at our expense.

If you want to contribute something...please post your receipts, and then explain to us how "CC is getting business from this promo." Yeah, they're getting business, and it's a loss, and not just paper loss. The fact of the matter is is really not difficult being honest in this transaction...just follow the rules.

I've repeatedly qualified it by your refusals to post your receipts.

No, what I stated is that your member seems puny after enjoying HD on a 120" screen. It's a simple statement of fact for those of us that have large screens...anything less seems puny in comparison. But whenever I state that I appear trite and pompous...forgive me. It is not my intention to diminish 46" screens, just tout the magnifence of 100" + screens. :)

It is rather funny that a guy who joined audioholics 4 months AFTER I did, is calling me a troll. FWIW, I have no interest in returning my HD-DVD collection as it will still get use in the guest bedroom.
The troll comment has nothing to do with your (or anyone's) join date...it has to do with the specific post. Please post your receipt so as not to send other memebers on a wild goose chase. At the very least, if you had any consideration, your would post YMMV (and that this is dishonest and morally reprehensible).

You sure do piss and moan a lot for someone who has “nothing but love” for HD
You call it p&m. I'm calling you out...and you have yet to back it up.

Uh oh, someone’s moral compass is turned around. You originally questioned the act, but now want to participate.
Hardly. But since your mind doesn't work like this...let me help you ouy (again). The request for the receipts was to establish that CC would accept returns from other retailers. Get it? In that way I could (but I NEVER would! :)) return my A35's that I purchase at other retailers and get a ton of cash (or credit) at CC.

Ethical ambiguity at its finest. So now that you have completed your 180 degree turnaround in a span of 12 hours, you want the same people you condemned to take time to help you?
See above. Same thing. Apparently, some people's minds and moral compasses are locked in one direction.

Next you challenge rded for a receipt and he responds.......
Please post the receipts.

How do you handle his response? You fold like a cheap suit.
I posted CC's policy on this matter which you rejected to do upon my request. Their policy directly contradicts what you are suggesting.

No. What has happened is you and your cohort have perpetrated a fraud. Post the receipts with your names and I'll quickly establish that. At least post the recipts so that we can confirm your "success stories." Anything less is a wild goose chase and the epitome of Trollism.

HELP? By perpetrating a fraud, and suggesting other memebers do the same. I'm not the Keeper of the Gates, but it seems to me you're down a one way path (hell in a handbasket). You've certainly directly contravened CC's written policy...herein with intent. That is textbook fraud. You may want to reconsider your position on this and post back.

This whole discussion is a little nuts. It's like trying to convince a crook that stealing is a crime. It's not gonna happen. And from where I sit, theft is exactly what we're talking about.

To those who are comfortable with the Circuit City scam, would you be up for keeping your player and picking someone's pocket to get the cash to buy a new one?

TVJon; Good morning.

Thanks for your insight. And I agree. This being a public forum, and a family forum, the [admittedly self-proclaimed] benefit of my argument is directed at those that care to listen...and do the right thing...and be deliberate and correct in their actions. Also, to set the record straight on CC's policy in regards to this matter. As the op and his cohort refused to post their blog...I did so. Regards, John

Seriously though, this being a family forum, I thought it proper to put in my $0.02 on the illegal and immoral scam that you are perpetrating...and advertising. If you can live with yourself...so be it. At 15 years of age, you still have a lot to learn. I posted my comments more for general information...you apparently won't sway...or listen.

First off- since when has this been a family forum?? If anything- this forum is a great way to spend time away from your family!! :D:D:D

Second- John, get off your high horse just a bit. You're acting like the kid in second grade who takes pleasure in trying to get his classmates in trouble because they broke the rules. Whether these folks were successful or not- why get in such a bother about it? They either A) Swindled CC out of money and they'll have to live with that, or B) Are lying about swindling CC out of money to brag on a message board. I personally think B is more pathetic, but that's just me. Either way, no action you take is going to fix option A, and option B isn't going to be corrected without a shrink and some serious meds.

Let these guys have their convoluted version of fun and let's all move on.

High Horse Aber? That's what you call it? Then you're a fraud and a cheat as well.

For those with their heads in the sand, allow me to elucidate. When you scam "the man", such as CC with this latest workaround, the paying consumer pays. Get it? Those that live and work honestly pay for a higher markup because of the wasted time spent on a non sale. This is doubly so when one purchases an A2 at Walmart for $59 or $99 (as our current hero has done), and then returns it (or so he keeps stating...without proof) to CC for $219. So not only does the retailer waste time and money on accepting the fraudulent return of an item they never sold...in the instant case, they shell out an additional $120 to the perpetrator.

High horse Aber? Go away. My post confers no benefit upon you. I realize that. Enjoy your fraud with the other scammers at slickdeals and fatwallet. Boys. Not a family forum? You're not too bright either...I've given you too much credit. Ask any of the mods about that...not me. "Convoluted version of fun?" That's what you call it? I call it is I see it. A scam...a fraud...at other's expense. If this is just "fun" and I'm just on my "high horse", why don't you try pulling a stunt like this at the AV Store (right here at Audioholics)?

Live in Peace...if you can.

John- now you're just being rude. I'm neither a fraud nor a cheat- and you have no proof that I have ever defrauded or cheated anybody.

I merely stated my opinion as to what others were doing. When I used the word "fun" I thought I was pretty clear that I was being satirical. You misinterpreted my words... so be it. That needs to result in me being called dishonest???

Then you go ahead and call me stupid... nice way to treat somebody.

The family forum comment was clearly a joke. Sorry you couldn't understand that.

Why are you so angry with the world?? You add great value to this forum in some regards... but a portion of your posts are straight-out confrontational and mean. I'd love to understand what makes you get so worked up and angry at people you've never met.

In the meantime, I'd appreciate it if you stopped making slanderous, unfounded comments about me. You don't know me, you've never met me, and (unlike you in this thread) I am not criticizing others for their actions, merely observing and commenting.

I never called you stupid aber. You poked in here directing me to "get off my high horse." All I've been doing is illuminating the fraud, and asking the fraud to please provide proof of the transaction...which he still refuses to do.

Your assertion that this is not a family joke was not plainly written as such. The entire gist of your post is that you disagree with me on this issue, and side with the fraud...although you did state that you would not perform this stunt yourself. I find that comment a little curious. If you are so offended by my "policing of morality," as it were, then view this as an attempt to ask another member to simply post his receipt...validating this stunt so that other members may reduplicate it...if they so wish.

Angry? Yeah. But not with the world. I don't like cheats and frauds, and I'm not too shy or weak to call 'em out. I do it regularly. And I'm not used to backing down..if you haven't noticed. ;) The fraud's post is useless drivel and fodder for the weak minded unless he cares to back it up so that others may take advantage...he refuses to do so. I really don't mind standing alone on this issue. To me it's black and white, and you have informed us which side you are on.

Your exact quote "You're not too bright either...I've given you too much credit. " I interpreted "not too bright" as "stupid"... didn't think that was much of a stretch.

Regarding my family comment- there were 3 smiley faces next to the comment... how else could I have made it more plain that I was kidding around?

You obviously aren't used to backing down, even when you're being overly hot-headed and sensitive. It might be time to learn how to do so.
