Audyssey killing my HT sound?

That link led me to this link, check it out. I like the boom arm. That should make it easier when changing positions and the cost is ~the same. Whatcha think?

I looked at the one you linked and it will definitely work. You don't like the boom arm? Might be a little easier to use and place. Especially in the actual seats. I'm picturing placing the stand in one spot and just swinging the boom arm around instead of moving the whole stand for each mic position.

That's what I was thinking. I'll bet it collapses straight up and down too if you want to use it as a regular mic stand.

Wow great deal. Buy it? I'm still gonna see what is in Walmart tomorrow but might end up with this. Will the Audyssey mic screw onto this?

If not I can use an adapter. I think the Audyssey mic is 3/8" thread? I'm not above figuring out a way to make it fit in the included mic clip either, lol. If you want I'll set it up, see how it works and report back tomorrow with my findings.

That would be great, thanks. I just watched 2 movies in a row and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The sound is so big now. That was fun. I haven't had this much fun with my HT is a long time.

The boom mic stands are generally designed to snap the cylindrical body of a standard microphone into. I don't know if the specific one you are getting has an adapter (it looks like it might).
The Audyssey mic has a threaded insert in the bottom to fit any standard camera/video tripod.
Also, the Audyssey mic is designed to point straight up and boom mics are generally designed to point the mic at some marginal angle from horizontal. If there is not a "wrist" action at the end of the boom, you will need to figure out a way to orient the Audyssey mic in the upright position.
A boom stand is great for REW and standard microphone, but might not be the best option for Audyssey.
Since you run both, I think you are better off getting a boom mic and adapting it for Audyssey than doing the opposite (aside from getting two stands).
