Paradigm Signature S8's for music Or Paradigm Studio HT setup?

If you're listening to music 80% and you're trying to visually integrate a system into your home - keep it 2 channel. Bryston gear looks great and finding spots for more speakers in the room might prove difficult. If you already have the Sigs, stepping down to the Studios for surround...

Suggestions for an integrated tube amp

I think it's fun checking out different set ups. You may or may not like tubes but the only way to find out what they sound like is to listen for yourself. A cool way to experience it might be investing in a small, second system. A couple of nice integrateds could be the Rogue Audio...

    Disillusioned with "high end".

You can definitely get a nice 2.0 system for around a 1K, but I would not say spending more is a waste. You just have to spend it wisely, I've heard (much) more expensive systems than mine, some sound better, some don't. The disillusionment comes when guys spend way too much on cables and...

Am I "Weird" For Only Wanting 2-Channel (or at most, 2.1)? [Long Musing]

I bought a DAC for a few reasons: 1. As a cheap experiment to see if I could improve my old DVD player. 2. To bypass the Airport Express D/A - I listen to a lot music from my computer. I toggle btwn optical for computer, and coax for the DVD. 3. I didn't want to invest in an expensive DVD...

DeVore Gibbon 8's or Salk Songtowers?

Tough call, I've never heard the Salks - but I've heard most of the DeVore line, and they're amazing speakers. I'd go for the DeVores.

Am I "Weird" For Only Wanting 2-Channel (or at most, 2.1)? [Long Musing]

Nothing wrong with 2 Channel!! A lot of listeners are still getting great results with simple systems, although multi channel has it's merits... I get EXCELLENT results with my system: Integrated amp Floorstanding speakers Apple MacBook Pro/Airport Express DVD/CD player Outboard DAC...

Gold plated inputs on McIntosh 6200

I have a 6200 with the gold RCA ins. When I bought it, I was told that it's a '91, the last year the 6200 was made, and the only year that they had the gold plated ins and outs...

Has anyone heard about the blind A/B tests that the Wall Street Journal was conducting at their booth at CES?

    This is funny...

If Borat decided to break into the audio industry, these are some of the things he would come up with. Seriously though, I think this stuff started as a joke, and people are actually buying into it (literally). It can't be real: "Machina Dynamica's Promethean Base isolates moderate to heavy...

Pursiung the truth of the highest high-end

Hey Seth - I've heard some pretty notable differences between amplifiers. I've always been surprised by the outcome from switching amps. This is because my expectations for a difference, or improvement have always been very low. My demos have always been at home, and with a return policy...

Pursiung the truth of the highest high-end

You must find your own truth! For me, it's like this: Not all amps sound the same, specs aren't everything, don't be swayed by speakers that stand out in an obvious manner on a show room floor, tubes don't suck, placebo effect is real, if you want multi-channel - start with a great two channel...

Speaker Cones: What are the differences?

Yeah, these Sequerras are the only speakers that I've heard with a paper cone tweeter that I ever liked. They're not terribly expensive speakers, and I think **** Sequerra builds the tweeters himself, not totally sure...they sound great! Bose on the other hand... :(
