iLink for the rest of us...when?

Ha ha thats a good point! Some are a little of both. Since I own Audioholics, its all good :) However most of the gear is on extended loan via manufacturers. I am not loyal to any gear long enough to keep it personally ;) You may be right in this case but for different reasons...

    Best A.V.R. for large floorstanders???

The 75A rating is a bogus spec it is an instantaneous figure rather than steady state, kinda like dynamic power ratings. The 7200 is a beefy receiver and since it doesn't have all the latest DSP compliments (PLiix, DTS 96/24, etc) you can get it for a bargain. It certainly has a more tasty amp...

iLink for the rest of us...when?

I use dlink for DD/DTS and DVD-A. I don't have a 5803A so dlink doesnt work for SACD in my case. And yes, my calibration isn't perfect for SACD as it stands now. By the time I get it right, I will be moving onto 5805 ;)

Batman Begins Slated for Summer 2005 Release

I don't see how they can do another story of his origins. The first Batman movie with Mike Keaton covered that and they referenced in in the last 3 as well. What will be different about this one? Now we have yet another man behind the mask to get used to. I say lets stick to the cartoon...

iLink for the rest of us...when?

Yes in many cases the Receiver has a better dac implementation than the DVD player with perhaps the rare exception to the DVD-5900. In addition, many receivers/pre/pros only have one global channel trim setting making it difficult to calibrate for all formats. Most Universal DVD players have...

What would you get? DENON AVR-5803A or a Yamaha RX - Z9

Having reboxed the Z9 and reconnected the 5803 I can personally say the Z9 will be sorely missed. I almost can't function without DSP Adventure Mode for movies and PLIIX for music and old analog video sources ;) Denon is introducing some new whoppers at Cedia, including a replacement to the...

Speaker Cable Faceoff 2: Introduction & Measurements

We have emailed them a few times but never received a reply. I did look at some of their marketing lit and found it pretty, but questionable on some accounts.

Speaker Cable Faceoff 2: Introduction & Measurements

Boe, the Face Off II article you are referring to is only the introduction portion. I have not yet completed the full article, but plan on doing so shortly. The bottom line is all of the cables except perhaps the Goertz and Acoustic Research ones should yield similar sonic results. There is...

iLink for the rest of us...when?

Keenan, you are correct and sorry for the confusion. However, we expect to see receivers in the $1k price range with active i.link soon.

    Component Cable Suggestions

Monster video cables are usually of good quality, but their terminations fit too snug on most gear. I prefer component video cables with Canare terminations from companies we have listed on our site as approved cable vendors (IE. Bluejeans, Cobalt, AVCable, River Cable, AVIC).

iLink for the rest of us...when?

Rip; Denon have a receiver with i.link for about $1200. I believe you will see more receivers in this price class introduced at Cedia with i.link. Pre/pros are always a few generations behind on technology. I am working with a company that will be introducing a pre/pro for around $1500...

    Best preamplifer/amplifier under $4000

Be careful with proamps. They are usually designed for power and efficiency with little regard to noise control. In most cases you are better off with lower power, lower noise amplifiers in dedicated home theater amplifiers and even high end receivers. The AV123 combo does look promising...

    New Anthem D1 Review

Diablo; Thanks for the link. This review does seem more balanced from what he have seen in the past on this product. However it would be nice to see a review of this product that doesn't keep restating manufacturers marketing literature (particularly about upsampling) as gospel truths...

    What's the deal with cables?

Mark; Welcome aboard. Spend some time in our Cable Info Center and you will see the comparisions and detailed analysis on cables that we have made. The bottom line is only poorly designed cables sound different. While measurable differences in good cables exist, it often takes drastic...

    Sitting through a hurricane...

We were on alert all day yesterday and had to evacuate our homes. Luckily we got nothing, not even rain! Unfortunately my bro wasn't so lucky and had 3 tress (2 over 100yrs old) ripped off his property and he now has no electricity. Today we are getting the aftermath with non stop rain...
