    Audio Cable Tester Requirement

By all means post the spec here. I am certain you will get some good feedback from all the cable loonies (like me) participating on this forum ;)

Speaker Cable Faceoff 2: Introduction & Measurements

Starflex and Flexygy measurements are similar enough for them to be indistinguishable sonically. They are both good cables with great terminations and cosmetics.

    Flat Speaker wire?

Try the River Cable Flexygy. They measure well, have great terminations, aren't too overpriced. Best of all you get a 10% audioholics discount by using the code: AH504FX There are cheaper alternatives from Ram Electronics but I haven't tested them yet...

SACD approval for Denon Link 3rd Edition

You will have your answer when we meet with Denon at Cedia in less than two weeks. BTW, SACD/DVD-A via a digital connection with proper time alignment and bass management is not a essential part of my breakfast :) Once you have it, you can't go back.

    Yamaha RX-Z9 First Look

OShag; Did you determine that the "better" audio fidelity was a result of your preamp, power amps, or combo of both? IF you think its mostly the amps, try avoiding a cabling and configuring headache and simply preamp out your Z9 to the outboard amps you have. ON the flip side I could see...

Speaker cable and RCA interconnects- help me choose

Mudcat; I think a more accurate statement here would be there are no audible differences in well designed cables. Exotic cable vendors, or anyone for that matter can easily design a high resistance/inductance cable that will cause audible differences b/c of too much of those factors. The same...

Separate cables to BI-WIRE B&W DM601 s3 and Marantz sr6300 (Van den Hul cables )

Marko; The benefits of biwiring are next to null if you start out with a well designed cable. Biwiring can be problematic if you choose a high capacitance cable as you essentially double the capacitance in biwire configuration which can cause amplifier stability problems and/or frequency...

    Sun-fired

If I may add my 2cents. About a year ago we had to ban an obsessive and rude individual named Mikeyb. This decision did not come lightly as to date we have only banned two people on the forums, one of which is now back with us. However, the individual (Mikeyb) relentlessly attempted to...

Porcupine Tree In Absentia DTS DVD Audio Review!

I tend to agree with Jeffs assessment of the DVD sound quality. I found many of the tracks to be way overly bright, and compressed sounding. If I get a chance I will take a few scope shots and see how much clipping and overcompression is going on with this disc. Overall it is an enjoyable...

Speaker Cable Faceoff 2: Introduction & Measurements

The River Starflex has lower inductance and much better terminations than the Cobalts. I Also like how they look. Most of the top rated cables in our reviews will do just fine however. I prefer great terminations and nice cosmetics (eye candy ;) ).

Long speaker cable or long DVI cable

The Starflex is in fact their best cable even though the Flexygy 6 is more expensive. Yes it is an excellent cable for long runs. It is more expensive than ordinary 10AWG Zip cord, but it does have slightly lower inductance, much nicer appearance and excellent compression banana terminations...

Long speaker cable or long DVI cable

Always go with long speaker cables over long interconnect or video cables (especially DVI). I recommend using 10AWG speaker cable to minimize resistive losses.

    Yamaha RX-Z9 or B&K 507

If you love the sound of the B&K than I would advise to stick with it, especially since you don't dig the Z9 DSP modes. I personally love the Cinema DSP modes for movies and a few for concerts. Its always difficult for me to send their flagships back after I finish reviewing them for that very...

    Bi-Amping the Denon 3805

Happy that is correct. But our tweak is meant for the average joe who wants to easily utilize the extra 2 amps in their receiver to perhaps improve the performance of the system slightly.
