It is certainly true that the ability to sound good when played loud is one of the characteristics of better speakers, but I hardly think it is the only thing they have going for them.

A few websites have DVD boxed sets at exremely low prices. For example, Star Trek Next Generation seasons 1-7 for $158. Is there a reason that they can sell them so ridiculously cheap? If I buy them, how likely is it that they will turn out to be junk (and thus a total ripoff)? Site names...

I am trying to avoid spending any more $ on my stereo for as long as I can. Next time I do, though, it will probably go toward room treatments (something often recommended that I have never tried.)

I still have a few old cassettes that I listen to on those rare occasions when I am on the open road. I never listen to anything in traffic (it is too distracting, and can mask sounds that are important to hear.)
