It is a fact that global warming is occuring. It is also a fact that carbon emissions are accelerating the process. These are the issues that must be dealt with. The question of whether or not humans are ultimately at fault is academic, and irrelevant to the question of what needs to be done now.

I have never gone "yuck" to standard DVD. It looks very good to me (and was a night and day improvement over VHS.) HD and Blu Ray are not fixing something flawed, but merely adding a bit of polish to something that is already excellent.

Many of the bad movies listed so far were never intended as more than light entertainment. What makes Waterworld stand out is that it aspired to greatness and failed miserably.:cool:

I have a standard DVD from them (The Complex.) It is a very clean, family-freindly show. I expect that they are extremely loud live, so take earplugs.

Not all of my examples were like that. What they do all have in common, however, is a female vocalist with a male instrumentalist and no other band members. (double the formula and you get ABBA.:D)

If the powers that be cared about the environment at all, we would have been using something like that decades ago. Of course, only money matters.:(

The problem with trying to switch to small, fuel-efficient cars is that everybody has to do it. Where I live (redneck central), I would not consider a tiny car because of all the maniacs in their big trucks and SUVs. To them, a Mini looks exactly like a speed bump.

Others on your list that I am sufficiently interested in to buy soon include Joy Division, Dinosaur Junior, and Talk Talk. Some '80s titles that I have really enjoyed listening to lately include Skylarking by XTC, So by Peter Gabriel, Hounds of Love by Kate Bush, and Big Science by Laurie Anderson.

I have heard of far more of those than I have actually heard. I did recently pick up the new remasters of Daydream Nation and Psychocandy, though, and both are great.

If you try to follow the convoluted logic of how a thread ends up where it does, you may go insane.:) (Some of us treat the forum as a conversation, and follow the chain of associations wherever it may lead.)

Yes. I prefer the studio side to the live side. (This may have to do with the fact that, the first time I heard it, I was in the condition in which they intended for it to be heard.:D) Primus are Pink Floyd fans, so I guess this counts.:)
