Btw, with all of these offers, Alex is probably running a hose up to his place right now. :D
I don't know; wouldn't that set him back something like 14 months on his entertainment center?

I'd offer something. Unfortunately I don't have a proper woodshop yet and it would take a while. I'd be glad to put a couple kit boxes together for you at no cost or even a small sub one. Just let me know.

Seriously, I have no life.
Monday night my apt was destroyed by floods I'm Brooklyn, NY.. I lost everything. My pictures, cameras TV, Reciever, speakers, etc. 4 feet of water. I'm devastaded. Did anyone else get affected?
Sorry to hear that.
Are these pictures on paper or digital? Either will be impossible to replace unless you have some family who may have what you had.
The others you lost are replaceable, unless you have files that cannot be replaced or recovered.

That's terrible, AL2. I hope you're doing OK, have a place to stay and that insurance will cover your losses.

You guys have touched me. Thanks you for nice words. I live In Sheepshead Bay Brooklyn and everyone who live in a House/ Basement/1st floor got hit hard. I've been crying this whole week and I'm not the type to cry. People on the streets crying they lost their business and homes. So heartbreaking. I've had no lights in my area yet. The subway also Is not working either. Right now I'm at my sisters house typing this. I don't have any type of insurance. I called FEMA, so I will see how that goes. Thanks you for the PM's I will answer sometime today or tomorrow. Once again thanks for the kinds words I'm so touched.:) I took tons of photos and will post them soon.:(

I'm not sure in your situation insurance was an option, if your apartment was a basement one. Renters insurance would not cover flood damage, and Federal Flood insurance only covers things like a furnace and water heater, not other contents below ground.

Make sure your next apartment is not below ground and that you have renters insurance and Federal Flood Insurance.

Anyhow we will see what we can do to help.

I have some spare equipment on hand, but the cost of shipping, brokerage & customs wouldn't make it worthwhile for either of us. That said, I'm pretty sure that your home theatre isn't at the top of your priority list right now. I would guess that finding a home and salvaging stuff from your apartment will be all-consuming for a while.

If you need assistance, don't be shy about asking.:)

Yesterday my family helped me throw almost everything out.:( My fridge was was on the floor as was my dresser which were hard to get up. I had some ads on craigslist for some items for sale, but they were all destroyed. I took them down today. Not sure If I can get anything done today as my sis car Is running on empty and no fuel to be found here In Brooklyn. Thank you thank you thank you for all your thoughts and prays for me and all the families that are going through the same thing. I feel the love you are giving.

I'm glad that your family is close by and that you all have each other. How did their homes do? Sounds like your sister's place is at least still there. Hopefully you were the only one who got hit so hard. Losing possessions is tough, but hopefully your family and friends are all okay. When people and pets lose their lives, there is no way to bring them back. Homes and business can, and will, be rebuilt. It's a huge blow and setback to a lot of people (including you) who had their lives planned out, but people usually pull together in a crisis like this and move forward. I hope and expect that will be the case here.

Here are a few pictures I took the last couple of days before the cleaning up started yesterday:

Fridge on floor:

Water went high as my turntable and TV:

You can see the line on the wall and see how high the water went:

That was funny.:D
That's a mess. I found you a really nice turntable on eBay last night for $45. Its parts or repair, but it is very clean. I bet I will have it up and running quite quickly. The only thing that might defeat the plan is if there is an NLA chip in the motor generator/Tach blown. It looks like brand new, so I thought it worth gambling on.

It is not Far Eastern junk either. If this works out you will have a very nice and good looking turntable.

I have a Quad 33 preamp. I would like to mate it with a 405 II 100 watt per channel current dumping amp. If you want the power amp, I can go through one pretty quickly and get it top notch. The Quad 33 came out of service downstairs within the year, and is perfect.

I doubt you are in an extreme hurry for this, by the look of the pictures, so that will give me time to get everything ready.
