I'm really sorry to hear about that. I'm a half mile from the gulf here in FL and we're always sweating bullets during storm season. I'm sorry you got wiped out by such a freak storm.

So sorry to hear. That sucks big time. :( ...at least you're alive.

I'm in southeast Pennsylvania and we got plenty of wind and sideways rain but no damage other than a few branches down that didn't hit anything. We are lucky. Many in our area got flooded and/or are without power.

I hope you get life back in order as soon as possible.

Wow. I am very sorry to hear about your loss. Do you have a place to stay with friends or family? I can only imagine how difficult it must be. Keep us posted on how you are doing and if there is anything you need that I can help with.

You were uninsured? I would guess almost no one in NYC carries flood insurance.

I feel bad for you I can only hope that you find the strength to pull through and come out on top of everything. I hope you are able to start rebuilding sooner than later. I don't want to step over the line as I don't know what your plans will be but I do have an unopened box of Cerwin Vega bookshelf speakers V something or other that I would have no problem sending your way, n/c to you, to help you get some sound back, let me know and we can make it happen, sawz.

Looks like afterlife2 and I basically neighbors, but my building wasn't affected much if at all. Thank god.

Best wishes to you and quick recovery. I drove thru today few areas in Sheepshead Bay and I saw water damage was very considerable

Driving thru downtown Manhattan last night was really freaky - pitch dark from battery part all the way up to 36th Street. I drove West side Highway in like 5 mins flat from Canal st to 57th Street - almost 0 traffic lights were working

That's horrible news. :( I'm so sorry that you lost your one-of-a-kind personal possessions. As others have said, I'm glad that you're okay, and I hope that you get back on your feet very soon.

Will your insurance cover this?

Sorry to read that you lost so much. I hope that you have a place to stay and get your life back on track ASAP.

We were mostly lucky here in east PA (NY/NJ/PA tri-state area). The power has been out since 4:30 Monday. Our 3 year old wants nothing to do with going home to our cold dark home. She screams each time we pull into our driveway. We also had a huge pine tree take out our deck. It went right through it like butter. Still, it could have come down on the house while we were sleeping. I wouldn't be here to type this if it did. We'll count our blessings to be alive and prepare better for next time.

Good luck with everything. Glad you made it through alive.

Seriously, I have no life.
That is really unfortunate Afterlife.

I am glad you are OK. I do hope you have a place to stay with relatives or friends.

Keep us posted.

I have quite a bit of older equipment in storage that is you can use I will give you. Some needs restoration. All two channel. Most of it needs some restoration to make it as new.

I'm sure that's the last thing on your mind right now, but there will come a time I bet!

I went through two floods in the Red River Valley. In the 1979 flood which was flash, I was tearing my studio down, by flash light in the middle of the night as the water rose fast. Just cut and pulled the cables.

Got is all out except the studio monitors, the JWs I was using for midrange are all metal, and they worked fine after a hose off. Remarkably the two KEF B 139 bass units worked after being totally submerged for around a week!

The funny part about that one, is that the authorities would not believe we were in dire straights and kept dismissing us as pranksters. It was like a Monty Python sketch, with the emergency management center just insisting we had a bit of seepage! Finally we got a builder to rescue us with front end loader. All six of us got into the bucket with the dog swimming behind.

In the great flood of 1999, I got everything out of the basement, and my dike and pumps held.

Floods are just awful so I can imagine what you are going through.

That really sucks. Will you be going back into the apartment or is it going to be a while? You probably don't know yet, but let us know how it plays out!
Wishing you the best!

You guys are incredibly generous! Very nice of you.

I was waiting for an answer on the insurance before I offered up anything. I'm a cheapskate, though.

Btw, with all of these offers, Alex is probably running a hose up to his place right now. :D

Yeah, but even if insurance pays, we might "cover" part of his deductible.
Not to mention, it will probably be a while before he gets insurance money. Music is important for putting life back together (I've been there)!
I'm sure it is a real cluster for insurance companies to attempt to verify every claim is legit in a timely fashion.
