ok so i recently got a system but the subs are garbage and i knew this from the beggining but i liked the box. These are the subs.

Amazon.com: NEW DUAL BP1204 DUAL 12" BANDPASS SUBWOOFER

The subs are only about 600w rms and i have a hifonics HFi1000 Hfi Series D-Class Mono Amplifier the specs are 1 x 475 @ 4 OHMS, 1 x 750 @ 2 OHMS, 1 x 1000 @ 1 OHM... i have these subs running at 4ohms right now. ok so the problem is... i want to put this amp up to 1 ohm but i dont know what subs to replace the duals with..? what subs go to 1 ohm? also can i still use the same amp wire kit? i bought this one..

MEMPHIS 8GKIT REAL 8 GAUGE AMPLIFIER INSTALL KIT

its a memphis 8 awg kit.. it says 300w i dont know why since i think i had it on more then that.

so overall.. i need to know what are some good subs for cheap that will go to 1ohm at 1000w.. and also what amp wiring kit to get..? if you have any websites of closeout or factory manufactured subs for cheapp let me know for sure.

also.. if i want to install another box of 10s could i hook the 10s and 12s up to the amp together? i know its a mono amp but im not sure how exactly that works...

PLEEASEE LET ME KNO ASAP! I AM PLANNING ON GETTING SOMETHING NEW THIS WEEKKK!!!
PLEASE
THANKS

You might want to ask your questions on a Car audio site.

The least expensive option is to use SVC 2-ohm subs. Hook both + to the + of the amp, and hook both - to the - of the amp. 1ohm load.

Let's define our goals. How loud do you need to get? Is your goal more output or better sound quality?

Because in a car environment, 100 watts by my thought usually all you need. I think you need to clarify your goals and line of thinking.

These young guys just want it to hit hard. They are not really worried about the technical details.;)

Nothing wrong with slapping two SVC 2ohm subs on his amp.

I was more of a SQ guy in my day. Went from two comp subs, down to a single unit.

These days, I just run four 6.5's @2ohm.:D

I would like to mention that running an amp capable of 1k should require an dedicated battery, and a beefed-up alternator. Very hard on a cars electrical system.

I've got a four ohm alpine 12in type r with an 1800 watt amp and my suggestions is that like everyone is saying grab a couple 2 ohm subs run them paralell (positive to positive and negative to negative) and it changes the load to 1 ohm as for the battery and alternator you really only need a capacitor to correct the voltage drops there is also dry cell batteries that act the same as capacitors but a little more power effective otherwise you dont need to beef up an alternator or the car battery ive had my system in my car for years now and never had to change the battery alternator or cables in between

There is a right way, and there is a wrong way.

The very minimum I recommend is a dedicated battery, with a relay.

It will work your way, but that doesn't make it correct. 1000W is a lot of power. It doesn't magically make it.

And yes, I know what a cap is. Been doing this for a long time.;)

A cars electrical system is designed for that particular cars needs. It was not designed to support a 1000W amp. Pretty simple to understand, really.

to go down to 1 ohm,you will need at least a 4 ga power and ground wiring kit,and a bass cap or high output alternator or a second battery if you want to get serious, and during the summer a cooling fan because an amp cranking at 1 ohm will get hot ! there are many good dual voice coil woofers that will easily wire at 1 ohm, make sure your amp is truly 1 ohm stable,I would suggest running the load at 2 or 4 ohms though for long term life of the amp,I think the system will sound better and run better at 2 or 4.

The recommendation for running 2ohm is a good idea. As mentioned by both of us, a 1ohm load is a big deal. It's hard on the amp, and hard on the electrical system. I would still recommend a second battery, along with an isolation relay.

Running two SVC 4ohm subs parallel will yield a 2ohm load. I am recommending SVC subs due to the cost, and simplicity.

I have purchased from this seller before:

Rather than jumping in with a second battery and all that, which is probably not completely necessary here, I would recommend at a minimum 4 ga. power & ground wire for the amplifier.

Then upgrade/supplement the wiring from the alternator to the battery, the battery to the chassis ground, the chassis to engine block ground all with at least 4ga wiring.

Let's remember that music is dynamic and the amplifier is not pulling a full amount of power continuously. Because of this, one can get away with doing as I suggested above so long as the alternator and battery are in good order.

Also upgrading the wiring as I suggested helps prevent voltage decreases which are the big enemy in car audio. The lower the voltage drops the higher the amperage demands become.

I would recommend at least 2 million micro-farads of capacitance for a 1kw rms amplifier along with the upgrades I suggested. All of these things together should allow the system to operate at high performance levels and no issues for music listening in most vehicles. Bumping up to the largest cold cranking amp battery that your car can hold is also recommended.

As for subs, dual 4ohm subs with the coils wired in parallel, and then the two subs wired in parallel will achieve a 1 ohm load. Four 4 ohm subs in parallel will also achieve 1 ohm, as would dual 2 ohm subs.

There is a problem replacing with high cold cranking battery, as I have tried all the shortcuts before.

Adding a higher rated battery than the car is designed to use will cause the battery to overcharge. It will swell, and eventually burst.

This can happen with any battery, as the draw from the amp causes the alternator to be confused in thinking the battery needs charging.

Adding a second battery with a relay is cost effective, and simple. Similar to a dedicated circuit for HT. A quality system deserves it's own power source.

Another point is the cars electronics. Power windows, lights, turn signals, wipers, and so on. A voltage drop during the use of any of these can also cause the electric motor/parts to fail.

You might want to ask your questions on a Car audio site.
Or, you could ask them here. :D;)

Hope this didn't run the OP off. Annunaki has joined the thread, and he is one of the best car audio guys you will find on any site.
