Nice!
Is that an Axis driver? What diameter?
With the DCX in your rack, I assume that is a DIY job.

Actually, I wouldn't mind hearing your comments on how the two compare for attacks on plucked acoustic bass. I'm sure your JL will spank the little guy, but I wonder by how much. That'll give me something to look forward to with my dual 12" TC LMS ULTRA DIYs.

Obviously the VMS is not competition for your big boy, but I think you'll be amazed at what it puts out. I was pretty surprised at how its 8" driver compared to my 10" ML driver for impact and extension.

I don't believe you could buy a 1000W RMS amp and an equivalent driver (to build a DIY) for $350!
That is the benefit of buying a closeout at ~50% discount.

Yep, it's a 15" AXIS in a sealed box. It replaced my Paradigm Servo15 about 1.5 years ago.

Mind you that it is in an open room that is ~8,000 cubic feet and the Velo will be in a room that is 1,000 cubic feet.

I can't wait to get it.

The little feller just made it in.

I have only listened to about 5 songs but so far this thing seems really nice for an office system.

There is a picture of it on the Dawg Crusher for comparison in size.

At least my little sub has some extension and output....
Ooh ... that stung.
I ran to my measured response graph ... I have extension. :p
Now I gotta find the spec's on yours.

Seriously, when is the second one coming? :)

Glad I'm not the only one who thought the VMS-8 was a good deal for the closeout price. I feel bad for anyone who bought a MiniVee or Chrysalis Photon-8 at full (or even close to full) price... when the VMS-8 is the same dang sub for less than 1/2 the price.

Surprised to hear it has more punch than the Dynamo... but this makes me feel better I went for the VMS-8 after missing out on the Dynamo deal for $325 from Amazon a month or 2 ago.

All in all.... I'm happy with this little sub for desktop audio.

Yep, great deal for the price. I wish I have of grabbed 2 of them.

Thanks for the heads up on this little thing.

Crap...now that this is all properly set up and crossed over, it may sound as good or better than my real system.

Ummm...$700 vs. $10,000...:mad::mad:

That's kinda how I feel about my bedroom setup, it sounds as good or better than my main system, and cost a lot less. Oh well, I still enjoy the crap out of it :D

I am certain it's the size of the rooms in my case. There is just so much you can do with a huge open space like my main system is in. My office is very small so it's easy to fill with sound.

Those little speakers are that nice, huh?

On a similar note: My little 2 channel system with Dayton BR-1's in our spare room sound real nice. Our living room opens up to everything else too. The sound is different but in some respects as good or better than the Primus 360's which are getting rave reviews lately. Weird. My placement of the BR-1's isn't ideal either.

I am very impressed with the A5's, great mids and highs.

The little feller sub can hold its on too.

Yup. I like my office system and I wondered the same thing. But I don't ever want to give up big speakers and bigger amps.:D:cool:

It's the near field listening. You hear more speaker and less room.

Glad you're liking it Greg.:)
