What kind of price differences are we talking about here?
FWIW, there was a guy I helped out a lot in setting up his audio stuff, among other things. He sets up PJ systems for a living, travels the world, and is at major conventions.
Out of appreciation, he was going to pass along his dealer accommodation to me for my huge screen. The savings were minimal enough that I still went with PP just in case anything went wrong. He quite understood. Usually PP type pricing means lack of CS, or so is my impression. Doesn't seem to be the case with PP . . .
Don't forget light control. Darker is better, period, and that goes for all walls.
If you can do AT screen, then do it. If you can do a false wall, then do it. I don't have either, but those two things would be the most significant upgrades to my HT, IMO for today. HP screens cannot be AT, so I'm out of luck there.
When placing the rear row, just note that you don't want listeners too close to the rear wall, if audio is of importance. On that note, budget for treatments. HTs are desired to be even more dead than music rooms.
