This has been a great thread for me

I'm getting a new house which will be completed in 4 1/2 months. It has a 12x19 1/2 Bonus Room which be converted into my Home Theater.

I've decided to go with The Epson Home Cinema 1080 UB and the Focupix 120" 16:9 Widescreen Tab Tensioned Electric Projector Screen.

I'm going to have a riser covering the last 7 feet of the room and put a row of 3 seats up against the riser (12-13 feet from the screen) and then have a 2nd row of 3 seats in the middle of the riser.

I do like the Showtime Home Theater Seats referred to in this thread from Boston Tables, but I may like the Studio Collection at HTmarket.com a little better because the seats would be about 2 inches wider.

HTmarket has a much better selection of seats than Boston Tables, but I don't know much about the company. They seem to be less expensive than Boston Tables. They carry the Epson 1080 UB for a lower price than Visual Apex and they even have risers that they sell.

I know that I can trust Visual Apex and Boston Tables
Does anyone here have any knowledge of HTmarket either positive or negative? I would appreciate any input before I have to make my final decisions.

Thank you.

What kind of price differences are we talking about here?

FWIW, there was a guy I helped out a lot in setting up his audio stuff, among other things. He sets up PJ systems for a living, travels the world, and is at major conventions.

Out of appreciation, he was going to pass along his dealer accommodation to me for my huge screen. The savings were minimal enough that I still went with PP just in case anything went wrong. He quite understood. Usually PP type pricing means lack of CS, or so is my impression. Doesn't seem to be the case with PP . . .

Don't forget light control. Darker is better, period, and that goes for all walls. If you can do AT screen, then do it. If you can do a false wall, then do it. I don't have either, but those two things would be the most significant upgrades to my HT, IMO for today. HP screens cannot be AT, so I'm out of luck there.

When placing the rear row, just note that you don't want listeners too close to the rear wall, if audio is of importance. On that note, budget for treatments. HTs are desired to be even more dead than music rooms.

Check out Build Your Own Multi Functional Theater Seat Riser.

Thanks. The difference in cost seems to be about $100-200.
The house won't be ready until Feb 09, though I may get the projector early because of the rebate.

I won't order the screen or seats until after I move in.

Right now, I'm trying to figure out how I want the room configured because I only have 3 weeks to the cutoff date to let the builder know where I want plugs installed and to decide whether or not to pre-wire certain areas.

So these guys are total jerks?

I don't know if I would buy anything from JERKS regardless of price. You are paying a lot of money after all.
*in bad spanish accent*

Let me 'splain. No, let me sum up.

Firstrst phone call the guy was rude, but in the end did what I wanted. He just had no product information and said shipping would take 11 buisness days unless I paid an INSANE extra rate. Now my room won't be ready for some time, but I dislike when places like that charge extra to put something in the mail. I tried to call back to cancel after I mulled it over, They don't work friday evening, or weekend days.

Enter Monday, before I could call them, I got a VM. My bank needed me to verify I wanted them to have the funds. The billing person at Dbuys was quite polite, and my bank rep who I had to CONFERENCE call was a huge b!sh. Ah well. This time the nice billing lady said I should have it no later than saturday. That's ok by me.

I will keep everyone posted to see if Dbuys gives me anymore trouble. I do wish I would have gone PJ people from the get go actualy. Why didn't I cancel then you might ask. The funds were already held in limbo, and I didn't want to wait another 10 days for a refund etc. I don't trust Dbuys enough to process my refund anytime soon. The sooner the PJ is at my house, and not out there somewhere the sooner I can feel better.

... and then she marry Humperdink in little less a half an hour.

I love the idea of AT, but... I have cats. They have access to the room and no real way to stop that. I would rather something cheep, or out of reach. AT, unfortunately, isn't Cheep.

Focupix usually gives 10% off for Holidays

I've decided to go with The Epson Home Cinema 1080 UB and the Focupix 120" 16:9 Widescreen Tab Tensioned Electric Projector Screen.
Excellent plan!:D

I was going to get the Focupix 120" Electric Tension screen too. In fact, I ordered one, but then cancelled because Optoma had was going to send me a replacement screen for free.

Another thing to keep in mind is that they will give you 10% discount on Holidays! For example, during Labor Day, they gave 10% discount for like 2 full weeks! On that 120" Tension screen, that's like almost $100 off!

So if you call them now, I would ask them to give you the 10% discount anyway.:D

Thanks.

My home completion date is Feb. 26th.

I was planning on ordering the projector at the end of November to take advantage of the rebate.

I wasn't planning on getting the screen until I moved in. However, if they do give 10% off on Holidays, I may order around Xmas (unless they tell me that they always have a Presidents Day sale.

Thanks again

Depending on how much time you actually spend shopping, or how often you check into forums, I'd wait because you never know what kind of sale you will run into.

I will PM you if I see a crazy-mad deal like I scored on, which was right about Jan/Feb earlier this year.

After CEDIA passes, its just like with cars. The '09 models come out means the dealer wants to rid his lot of the '08 models. Anyways, my 2 cents.

i think I might go get a ps3 tonight.... hrm... maybe maybe no. The older 80 gig with sacd and the better internals and more ports would be 50-100 dollars more than the new 80 gig. and that is the old 80 gig refurbished.

ghey.

Dbuys has not charged my account as of yet. I'm going to be calling them to cancel and then call my bank to tell them to not authorize any funds to them and go with another seller.

I was to have it by last friday, and I still haven't been billed even through they called my bank with me to get authorisation.

I still haven't got an invoice from them which means no rebate. I will hunt them down if I don't get one soon.
